Abstract

The frequency of dementia increases depending on the the increase in the lifespan of individuals. Due to dementia, person’s intellectual abilities and activities of daily living are inadequate, also behavioral, and psychopathological changes, the resulting individual becomes addicted, resulting in an increase in the burden of caregivers. Depending on these changes in the patient with dementia, there are significant responsibilities to the nurses who have most care among the members of the health care to recognize these problems and to carry out the necessary interventions in the individuals and caregivers. In this sense, it is aimed to contribute to the literature by increasing sensitivity and awareness in this field by referring to the studies about the perception of the changes in the daily life activities, neuropsychiatric level of the dementia patient by the caregiver, and the effect of these neuropsychiatric changes on the caregiver.
