Abstract

With the 20th century Dada movement, the definition of art irrevocably changed, the sharp distinctions between art branches began to disappear and art changed into an interdisciplinary structure. With this situation, new forms of expression emerged in art, and expressions such as performance, poetry, dance, and interview were included in the field of art. Thus, music, which is the most abstract branch of art, became a new field open for artists to be associated with plastic arts branches with these developments. Kandinsky, who is one of the founders of abstract painting, spoke of the fact that colors have a musical tone, and in his work “On the Intellectuality in Art”, he created similarities between colors and musical instruments and their sounds. When we look at post-1950 art, we are witnessing the fact that, especially with Fluxus movement, music has become the main object of the actual work in artworks. The 'contemporary' dialogue of the music, which creates new layers of meaning, with the plastic arts, especially in the post-2000 artworks, will be examined in the study.
