Abstract

In this present study, the aims, attitudes and learning skills of Bosnia-Herzegovinian students who learned Turkish as a foreign language were analyzed in terms of several variables. The study is a descriptive one. Survey model was used to collect data regarding the students’ attitudes, success rates and aims. The data for the research were gathered through the students’ final grades at the end of each level and the Turkish Learning Attitude Scale. For data analysis, frequency, percentage, mean, correlation and t-test were utilized. The results of the analyses showed that Bosnia-Herzegovinian students learned Turkish to receive education in Turkey and for travelling purposes, and that their attitudes towards learning Turkish were high. It was also determined that there was a low negative significant relationship be-tween students` language skills and attitudes towards learning Turkish. It was found out that in terms of the students’ attitudes towards learning Turkish, there was a low negative significant relationship between the students` reading and listening skills and that there was a low positive significant relationship in terms of their writing skills. It was found out that there was a low positive significant rela-tionship between the students’ interactional speaking skills and the cognitive, affec-tive and kinetic dimensions of their attitudes, and also that there was a low negative significant relationship between their verbal expression skills and attitudes towards learning Turkish in general. The analyses also showed that there was a low positive significant relationship between the students’ attitudes towards learning Turkish and their productive language skills and a low negative relationship in terms of their receptive language skills.
