Abstract

On Saturday, April 4, 1953, the Turkish Maritime History has experience done of the most painful days. Swedish-flagged freighter called Naboland and submarine Dumlupınar who were returning to the naval base of Gölcük at the end of the NATO exercise in the Mediterranean fought off Cape Nara. Wounded from head and sink away by the violence of collision Dumlupınar buried in water in minutes. Rescue operations for the three days following the accident turnedoutto be fruitless, representing the Bureau of the Ministry of National Defense issued a communiqué on Monday 6 April 1953 stated that 81 sailors gave up hope of their lives. In this paper, Corporaltaxpayer from Turgutreis Emin Süzen’s life until he martyrized in the catastrophe of Dumlupınar Submarine, try to be presented in the light of the work of local history and documents.
