Abstract

The language of a country gains a reputation and becomes attractive as much as the country advances in science, art, trade and politics. The demand for Turkish as a foreign language altered in direct proportion to the historical achievements of the Turkish people. Therefore, many works (particularly DîvânüLugati't-Türk) that were used as resources for teaching Turkish were created in different places where Turkish people established a state. Some of these works were examined, but many have yet to be revealed. Works created in the historical process should be examined for teaching a language and ensuring a systematic structure for teaching a language. This study examined the methods and techniques in Sarf-ıTürkî, which was prepared by MuhammedNazif in Afghanistan in 1326 AH. It is fair to say that the writer used the translation method for the grammar in the book. In addition to the question-answer method, the writer also used induction and deduction. Grammar rules were explained in Persian, and the examples were presented in Persian and Turkish in this book, which was written in Persian and Turkish. The writer demonstrated the verbs in all tenses in tables at the end of the book.
