Abstract

Living things, while leading their lives, meet obstacles & fighting with these obstacles, they come across challenges. The individual being, sometimes contradicts with himself or his family, his relatives, societies & institutions. The majority of these conflicts experienced in the families, forming the basis of society. Intra familial conflicts, affecting individual & society from different angles, constitute one of the major subjects of literature, especially children’s literature. This literature, putting the child into the center, introduces the individual with the realities of life through literary works concerning children. The reader coming across so many works may sometimes face unqualified books as well. And this reminds us of the writers of children’s literature who cares for the quality in children’s books, who follows the children needs, who internalizes the sensitivity of children & who utilizes all these in his or her works. Aytül Akal is know as a writer who has been aware of the world of children & who has internalized the quality of literature. She is one of the writers narrating humorously the intergenerational, intrafamilial or daily conflicts as its subject matter, we will find Akal mentioning about the individual having conflicts intrafamilial or with someone out of family in her works Kızım Ben Çocukken (My Daughter when I was a Child) & Oğlum Ben Çocukken (My Son when I was a Child).
