STUDYING THE WORKS OF CHILDREN’S LITERATUR IN TERMS OF NATIONAL VALUES

Abstract

One of the main functions of children's literature works is to build awareness of the value judgments of the society in which children live. It is the national value judgments of a society that holds and strengthens a society together. One of the main aims of education is to bring these value judgments to the growing generations. This aim has taken place in the Republican Turkish courses for the general purpose of teaching Turkish as a mother tongue plays an important role in bringing the national values. In 2006 and 2015 Turkish curriculum in the general objectives supported by theme and sub-theme embodied. It is an important factor in terms of adopting the language of national unity and recognition of national and universal values such targets are located in the general purposes. These aims were divided into sub-themes in the themes of National Struggle and Ataturk, National Culture, Virtue, Individual and Society. Proceeding from this course as well as the theme of the text contained in the reality of children’s books, appropriate children’s literature reading culture will be created with the reading of the works will contribute to the development of national consciousness. In this study, the works of the narrative type appropriate to the child's relativity principle will be examined with the sub-themes of national struggle, heroism, courage, sacrifice, Çanakkale, homeland love, nation love, and flag love. In this study which is planned as a qualitative research, it will be included to examine the narrative works suitable for the child level, which can be easily reached by the students, apart from the 100 Basic Works as recommendation. The method of document review and content analysis will be used to determine in what direction the works serve to develop national consciousness. It will be provided to determine the books which are suitable for the student level, including themes such as homeland love, nation love and heroism.
