Abstract

The problem of child labor, is a question concerning specifically Turkey, but in general the countries all over the world. The first embodiments concerning solution of the problem of child laborers being uncontrollable in developed and / or developing countries as well as developed / industrialized countries, are the steps taken by International Labour Organization (ILO) in 1991. . In Turkey; there are regulations in accordance with Article 50 "Working conditions and right to rest” of the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey, Labour Law no: 4857 and Primary Education and Training Law No: 222. . However, despite the steps taken (formal-informal), problems concerning child labor continue. Considering this fact, this study includes analysis of documentary film called Vavelya about child labor using methodology of reception study. In this context, main problem of this study is how documentary films in general, also specific to Vavelya, can affect knowledge and awareness of audience about existing social problem.
