Abstract

Serving the Public concepts were firstly mentioned in USA in 1960s. Starting from positive feedbacks from learning based on experience; Serving the Public Practice made mandatory for graduation from Universities in USA. Later “Serving the Public” exercised in other countries too. Young people’s service for public in different areas during their university education, to embrace society have an important function to establish relation with society as well as it is utmost effective factor for attaining many experience and learning related to life and carry them to future career lives. As it is known, one of the most important factor in mental health is that person should perform some team activities which improves him/her personally, improves social relations, support self confidence feeling, make him/her productive and sociable such as sport, arts and social solidarity. Also real well being can be obtained by making contribution to well being or happiness of others. There in this study it was tried to be understood whether there is relation between perceptions of RCMK teacher candidates regarding with Serving the Public course and being mentally well. Universe of study is formed by 3rd grade students in ÇOMU Primary School Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge department of faculty of theology im 2015-16 and Scale related to perception of teacher candidates regarding with Serving the Public course and “Warvick-Edingburgh mental Well being scale” were used. SPSS 18 package program was used for entry of survey data into computer program and for analysis processes. It was determined as result of correlational study which was implemented by survey and questionnaire method that there is positive and statistically significant relation between perception levels of teacher candidates related to Serving the Public Course and Mental well being.
