Abstract

Guidance is such a professional, systematic assistant that people need it in every stage of their life. The aim of this research is to define the perceptions and evalutions about the roles of the class guidance teachers, counsellors and the school principals working at the secondary schools in Bakırköy district, İstanbul and to investigate these perceptions and evaluations according to sex, age, branch, seniority, educational background and educational background of guidance and counseling. The participants of this research consist of 358 teachers working in Bakırköy district. As a result of the analysis of the data obtained by the data collection materials mentioned above, what the participants think about the school principal’s roles of guidance and counseling differs significantly but in a positive way according to participants’ sex (in favor of women), age, years of seniority and how much training they attended.
