Abstract

The purpose of the study is to compare the personality traits of 6th, 7th and 8th graders who do sports and those who do not. A total of 605 students, 308 registered and 297 non-registered, participated in the study. As for data collection tool, demographic information questionnaire and 5-factor personality inventory were used. According to the results of the study, statistically significant difference was found between the participants’ genders and how frequent they did sports (p<0,05). In terms of participants’ genders, differences were found in extraversion, neuroticism and openness traits. In terms of the frequency of doing sports, differences were found in extraversion, agreeableness and openness (p<0,05). As the frequency of doing sport increased, the traits of extraversion, agreeableness and openness were also found to increase positively.
