ANALYSIS OF ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT (EIA) APPLICATIONS IN AKSARAY PROVINCE

Abstract

Environmental impact assessment studies that, have an important position in the protection of natural resources and sustainability of living environment, require planned work of many disciplines and take a long time. In this process, economic, social, physical and biological values should be taken into account at the related investment while in preparing environmental impact assessment reports. In this context, investigation of EIA applications is aimed in Aksaray which is one of the priorities province in development. In the extent of study, decisions taken by the EIA and Environmental Permits Branch Directorate according to the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulation have been analyzed. Among the resolutions analyzed, are take place 'EIA is Positive' or 'EIA is not Necessary' decisions, their numbers and sectoral distributions. In these analyzes have been determined that decisions were taken between 1993 and 2017, 31 'EIA Positive' 282 'EIA Not Required'. Moreover, the highest rate of positive decisions of EIA in Aksaray province is in the field of oil and mining with 31,25%. Also, it is determined that the highest rates of 'EIA is not necessary' decisions is taken in oil and mine fields with 50%. In the last part of the study, suggestions have been presented about the necessary precautions to be taken in order to improve the level of implementation of the EIA reports in the province of Aksaray, which have great priorities in terms of protection and development of environmental quality.
