Abstract

In this article, the "transition period" rituals of Bozalan village of İzmir province Menemen district are discussed together with titles. In the introductory part of the study, information about the study area and the theoretical framework is given. Later on, the purpose of the study and the way in which it is traced is explained. Transitional periods deal with three main stages of human life, namely "birth, marriage and death". The rituals applied during these periods are of great importance in terms of our own values and our recognition of our culture. The determination of what these rituals are and how they are transmitted from day to day is an element that will increase our awareness. In the study, it was stated that rituals are reflected in the village of Bozalan with its own values and patterns. As a result of the research, it has been seen that the "transition period" rituals which occupy a large part in the Turkish world continue to be kept alive to a significant extent locally. This research was originally carried out due to the fact that it has not been addressed before, so it examines and reveals local rituals.
