EXAMINING THE USE OF HISTORICAL STRUCTURES IN THRILLER AND HORROR SCENES

Abstract

From the past to the present, television is an effective mass communication tool that has been involved in much of our lives. Although there is a lot of variety in production, it is a TV series and films that reach the audience frequently and broadcast extensively. There are many studies in the literature on the directing effect of the series and films affecting the masses. In this study, the location of the historical touch in the negative messages reaching viewer is examined. The tension scenes using existing cultural heritages are examined, focusing on the effects that this creates in the audience. Examples of the scanes that were used in the historical tissues were determined by taking samples from TV series now showing and expired and the structures of these scenes have been identified. Scane samples of ‘ Kayıp Şehir ‘, ‘Eşkıya Dünyaya Hükümdar Olmaz’, ‘ Çukur’, ‘ Suskunlar’, ‘ O Hayat Benim’, ‘İçerde’, ‘ Kurtlar Vadisi’, ‘ Çarpışma’ series and ‘İfreti’in Diyeti Cinnia’ were given and documented scenes where historical textures were used in horror and thriller scenes. The perceptions of the determined scenes on the viewer are reflected in the real life and the effect of this reflection on cultural heritage awareness and visit has been questioned.
