Abstract

The objective of the research hereby providing materials for discussion concerning whether the education provided for the teacher candidate’ having gone through four years of education in Preschool Education section has any affect on and influence on their levels of musical perception. Within this framework, the teacher candidates’ Musical Perception levels have been examined in many aspects. The sample of the research consists of 40 college students in their senior year in Marmara University Atatürk Education Faculty (Teachers’ College) Preschool Teaching Section. The group has been selected through random sampling where 95% of the participants were female and %5 consisted of male students, 55% of whom were between ages 23 to 26. The research data have been analyzed with ‘Mann Witney U’ and ‘Kruskal Wallis-H’ tests conducted in order to have determined whether the students’ Musical Perception points vary depending on multifarious variables. Additionally findings have also revealed that statistical differences exist from points of some sub-scale values relevant with the scale.
