Abstract

The relative development level of Turkey in comparison with OECD countries (Turkey, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, USA, Japan, Finland, Australia , New Zealand, Mexico, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, South Korea, Slovakia, Slovenia, Chile, Estonia, Israel) has been investigated in this study. Analysis, including 33 OECD countries, along with Turkey, covers 34 countries in total. In order to determine the relative development of Turkey within the OECD multivariate statistical methods of cluster analysis was applied. It is aimed to find out the country groups of Turkey. The study fills the gap in the literature as it shows relative development of both Turkey and the OECD countries. Results have indicated that Turkey shows similar characteristics with Mexico in terms of socio-economic indicators.
