Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate the cyberloafing behaviors, which is caused by internet and technology usage, of teachers working in primary and secondary type of public schools. The study was carried out with 484 teachers working in primary and secondary school public schools in Başakşehir district of Istanbul province. Survey technique was used to collect the data related to the survey, and the technique was developed by Aykut Akca (2013). The research was based on a relational screening model which is one of the quantitative research methods. The obtained data were analyzed by t-test and ANOVA tests in IBM SPSS, and the results are presented in tabular form. In the analysis, the teachers' the cyberloafing behaviors and the reasons of these behaviors are examined.In the study; the necessary analyses were used to determine whether the reasons for non-business internet usage during working hours differ according to gender, age, occupational seniority, internet usage capabilities. As a result, despite the fact that there is no significant difference in terms of age, professional seniority, internet use skill level, internet usage frequency and internet continuous uninterrupted period in case of non-work internet usage during working hours, there were differences according to duration of internet usage.
