Abstract

In this study, it was aimed to determine the opinions of the teachers working in the special education school about the leisure time of students with intellectual disabilities. A total of 14 teachers, two of whom are male and 12 of whom are female, participated in the study-special education school. The research was designed according to the qualitative research design and the data were collected by semi-structured interview technique. The interviews lasted between 17 minutes to eight. The data obtained from the interviews were analyzed by descriptive analysis technique. At the end of this research, it is concluded that there are no studies conducted within the field of leisure time skills; students are not aware of it; students with intellectual disabilities must be taught necessary leisure time skills; and that they mostly spend their free time with their friends and families or reading books, participating in in-class games and doing sports.
