Abstract
Bireylerin, özellikle de eğitimcilerin çocukların kendine özgü yapısını, ilgi ve ihtiyaçlarını dikkate alması olumlu bir yetişme ortamının oluşturulması için temel teşkil etmektedir. Bu gereksinimden hareketle çocukların potansiyellerinin keşfedilmesi ve yeteneklerinin desteklenmesi çocuk merkezli bir eğitim anlayışının doğmasına neden olmuştur. Çocuk merkezli eğitim anlayışının özünde çocuk hakları ve özgürlükleri ile eğitimde fırsat eşitliğinin sağlanması ilkeleri yer almaktadır. Bu ilkeler aynı zamanda çocukların sağlıklı biçimde sosyalleşebilmelerini de sağlamaktadır. Özelikle okul öncesi eğitimden itibaren bu ilkeler gerek ülkemizde gerekse dünyada ortak bir kabul halini almıştır. Böylece çocuk merkezli eğitim girişimleri artmış ve çocuk dostu okul anlayışı ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu çalışmada çocuk dostu okul anlayışının içeriği ve bu anlayışa yönelik Türkiye’deki mevcut durum ele alınmıştır.

Abstract
The consideration of the specific structure, interests and needs of the children by the individuals, especially the educators, is the basis for establishing a positive environment of growth. From this need, the discovery of children's potentials and the support of their abilities have led to the emergence of a child-centered education. At the core of child-centered education is the principles of equality of opportunity in education, children’s rights and freedom. These principles also ensure that children can socialize in a healthy way. Especially since preschool education, these principles have become a common recognition both in our country and in the world. Thus, child-centered educational initiatives have increased and child-friendly school understanding has emerged. In this study, the contents of child-friendly school concept and the current situation in Turkey are discussed.
