Abstract

Several memoirs have been published in Cypriot Turkish Literature. The first memoir to be published was the book by Kıbrıslızade Binbaşı Osman Bey which was published in 1887 with the title “Memoirs of Kıbrıslızade Binbaşı Osman Bey or English in East at 19th Century” An examination of the studies conducted in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus shows that, unfortunately, there are not many examinations on memoirs. The works in the type of memoir act as mirrors of historical, social and cultural events in the past and give essential information to us about those periods. For this reason, it is critical that these books are carefully examined and these books are given importance. A cultural and social evaluation of the book by Nevzat Yalçın titled “the oldest and farthest” shows that it sheds light to the lives of Cypriot Turks. For this reason, when all memoir-type books in Cypriot Turkish literature are examined and a conclusion is reached with the elements in these books, the historical, cultural and social structure of Cypriot Turks will come to light more clearly and several dark points will be illuminated.
