Abstract

Teacher candidates who are studying in education faculties and educating future generations should not only read resource books that will help their lessons but also read different books that will enable them to develop and cultivate themselves. In this context, the aim of studying is examine and evaluate the level of reading habits of Turkish teacher candidates. The sample of the study consists of 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade students who are educated in the department of Turkish Education of Dumlupınar University Education Faculty during the fall semester of 2016-2017. The data of the study were collected using attitude scale for reading habit developed by Susar Kırmızı (2012). According to obtained data, the reading habits of the students are at a good level . This habit differs according to the gender of the students, the kindergarten, and the reading habits of their mothers.
