Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the ecological footprints of teacher candidates who do not take environmental education courses and the effect of course on ecological footprints. The research was applied to 87 teacher candidates in classroom teaching in 2016-2017 academic year. Ecological footprint values among teacher candidates did not show significant differences between students who took and did not take courses and by sex. According to the results of the research, it is suggested that environmental education course contents should be provided with subjects that provide sustainability of sustainable ecological systems and curriculum including concepts and activities aiming to reduce ecological footprints.
