Abstract

When Joaquin Rodrigo's (1901-1999) musical approaches were examined, it is observed that he reflected the nationalism inherited from M. de Falla (1876-1946). Neoclassical influence on Rodrigo's considerably productive musical identity is highly strong. This influence is often observed in his classical guitar works. This study primarily began with the summarization of the composer's life. After that, his creativity portrait were examined through his works. The place of Neoclassicism in music and its formation and development processes were presented through the examples. Furthermore, Neoclassical influences in in Spanish music were explained. In the last part, the effect of Neoclassic on J. Rodrigo's classical guitar works were examined. Techniques and approaches applied by the composer were discussed and exemplified through the selected works. In this study visual media materials such as scores and photographs were used.
