Zweig, in the Novella “ The Burning Secret”, depicts the emotional world of a 12-year-old boy Edgar and the attempts of a baron to approach the mother of Edgar. The baron uses the boy to reach his mother. The emotions of the boy, notably his inner struggle, are taken very concretely in the novella. The experiences of the boy, who is not understood by his family, are described clearly from the point of view of the narrator.
