Abstract

The short story has a nature that tells the intensity of compressed moments with few words. In terms of its structure and content, it is a different literary genre that evokes more than one concept or situation at the same time in the reader's mind. Its unique nature and structure make it necessary to approach these texts from a multi-faceted perspective. For this reason, the perspective and approach method of the reader are very important in the short story analysis. Semra Aktunç, one of today's authors, gives successful products of this type. In her short - story called “Neighbor”, she reflects the tragic situation of the person under everyday siege with a few words of messages on the characters. Persons who are imprisoned in the text, in the snapshot taken by the author, survive in the opacity of monotony. The states of Nizamettin Bey, the most important figure of the text and other characters, are shown in a static atmosphere.
