To this end, a total of twelve teacher's books, being four books for each grade, are assessed. First of all, the ratio of poems in teacher's book of each publishing house to the whole text is detected, then the distribution of these poems by reading, listening and free reading texts is revealed. Afterwards, information is given about common poems and poets; finally the distribution of poems by themes is assessed. The obtained findings are presented in tables and graphs. According to the research findings, 79 of 438 reading, listening and free reading texts in the coursebooks are poems; mostly 6th grade gives place to poems among all secondary school grades, in reading texts among text types, and in Atatürk themes among all themes.
