Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop a model for multiculturalism and peace education. In particular, the study investigate to make assessments on the obtained results by subjecting social sciences teachers according to this model. In this regard, the problem of the research is to investigate ‘How to develop a model for multiculturalism and peace education and what could be the effectiveness of this developed model?’ Therefore, the method of research is planned as action research. Data collection is performed by taking expert opinions, analyzing literature review, and developing a three-stage model for related training. This model which is developed for multiculturalism and peace education is used for 20 teacher candidates who are selected on voluntary basis among the Social Sciences and geography teaching department. A diary of self-reflective were asked to teachers during the training of the teachers while interviews were carried out with students. All obtained data were analyzed and subjected to content analysis. The research results were discussed and evaluated in terms of the effectiveness of the model.
