Abstract

It is stated that one of the places where most of the elderly discrimination is done is health services and mostly done by young people. This research was carried out in order to determine the attitudes of the associate undergraduates who are studying in different departments in the health field. This descriptive study was conducted with 147 students who attended the research in 2015-2016 Academic Year and who were educated in two different universities on aging. A descriptive questionnaire and the Aging Discrimination Attitude Scale were used to collect the data. Student t test, Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis analysis were used for the evaluation. The results show that the pre-graduate students who are educated about the elderly show a positive attitude towards the age discrimination. Raising awareness about old age in all students suggests that it will be useful in preventing the elderly discrimination in our increasing population of elderly people.
