Abstract
İnsan mekândan bağımsız değildir ve mekân toplumsal planda sürekli değiştirilen bir süreçtedir. Değişen zaman ve değişen insanla birlikte mekânın şartları da değişir. Türk insanının modernleşme süreci düşünüldüğünde mekân içinde kadının ve erkeğin aynı kamusal alanı yavaş yavaş paylaşmaya başladığı görülür. Bu durum iki cinsin aşk ilişkilerinin de dönüşmesine zemin hazırlar. Bu, duygusal süreçlerin zamana ve mekâna bağlı form değiştirmesidir. Dolayısıyla zamana ve şartlara bağlı olarak değişen insan, mekânı geleneksel olandan farklı bir şekilde deneyimlemeye başlar. Kadın ve erkek; sinema, balo, mesire alanları, deniz ve plaj gibi kamusal alanlarda tanışıp özgür bir şekilde aşk tercihlerini yapabilirler. Mekân, aşk ilişkilerinde özel bir yere sahiptir. Çünkü duygular âşığın dünyasında mekân ile ilişkilendirilir. Duygunun kendi mekâna yerleşir. Dolayısıyla mekân aşk ile özdeş duruma gelir ve aşkın sembolü olur. Böylece aşk duygusu, âşık kahramanların zihninde yaşar. Buna ilaveten kadın erkek ilişkilerinin mahrem boyutunu yansıtan cinsellik, kapalı ve sınırları olan yerlerdir. Bu mekânlar aşk romanlarında hem duygunun gerçekçi bir zemine oturmasını hem de tehlikeli olanın alanına girilmesi anlamına gelir. Bu çalışmada 1930 ve 1940’lı yıllarda yazılmış aşk temalı romanlarda aşk ve mekânın kurgusal düzlemde neleri ihtiva ettiği ele alınacaktır. Aşk ve mekân arasındaki bağlantı dönemin sosyo-kültürel bağlantısı içinde değerlendirilecek ve aşk duygusunun bireysel planda hangi mekânlarla bağlantılı olduğu açıklanacaktır.

Abstract
Human beings are inherently connected to their surroundings, and the concept of space under goes a constant transformation in the social realm. As time and people change, so do the conditions of space. When considering the modernization process of Turkish society, it becomes apparent that men and women gradually begin to share the same public spaces. This phenomenon on sets the stage for the transformation of romantic relationships between the two genders. It signifies the evolution of emotional processes in accordance with time and space. Consequently, individuals adapt to experiencing space in a manner distinct from tradition, depending on circumstances and the passage of time. Lovers, for instance, meet and freely make choices in various public spaces such as cinemas, ballrooms, recreational areas, seas, and beaches. Space holds a significant place with in the realm of romantic relationships. Emotions become intertwined with space in the lover's world. Emotions find their dwelling within the physical environment. Thus, space becomes synonymous with love, assuming a symbolic role. Consequently, the essence of lover sides with in the minds of the lovers. Additionally, the intimate dimensions of male-female relationships, represented through sexuality, find expression in enclosed and restricted spaces. These spaces, encountered in romantic novels, serve to ground emotions in a realistic setting while also symbolizing the entry in to potentially perilous territories. This study aims to explore the fictional depiction of love and space in romance novels written during the 1930s and 1940s. The connection between love and space will be examined with in the socio-cultural context of the era, shedding light on the specific spaces associated with the individual experience of love.
