Abstract
İspanya’ya bağlı Katalonya özerk bölgesinde 1 Ekim 2017 tarihinde bir bağımsızlık referandumu gerçekleştirilmiştir. Merkezi hükümet tarafından İspanya Anayasası’na aykırı olduğu öne sürülen söz konusu referandumun üstünden yaklaşık üç yıl geçmesine karşın, İspanya ve Katalonya arasında yaşanan gerginlik güncelliğini korumaktadır. 2017 Bağımsızlık Referandumu iki hükümet arasında uzun zamandan beri yaşanan sıkıntıların bir yansıması olmuştur. Söz konusu referandumun yapılmasının altında pek çok neden yattığını söylemek mümkündür. Bu çalışma, 2017 Katalan Bağımsızlık Referandumunun gerekçelerini tespit etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Çalışma kapsamında, tarihsel, siyasal, kültürel ve ekonomik temelli birçok argüman ele alınarak, referandumun gerekçelerine ilişkin bir analiz gerçekleştirilmiştir.

Abstract
An independence referendum was held on October 1, 2017 in the autonomous region of Catalonia in Spain. Although nearly three years have passed since the referendum, which was claimed by the central government to be against the Spanish Constitution, the tension between Spain and Catalonia remains current. The 2017 Independence Referendum was a reflection of longstanding troubles between the two governments. It is possible to say that there are many reasons for the referendum to be held. This study aims to determine the reasons for the 2017 Catalan Independence Referendum. Within the scope of the study, many arguments based on historical, political, cultural and economic basis were handled and an analysis was made on the reasons for the referendum.
