Tokugawa Shogunate closed Japanese ports for about 230 years to the foreign countries, maintaining only commercial relations with China and the Netherlands. From the first half of the nineteenth century, countries such as England, Russia and the United States had some initiatives to have been involved in this business. In the year of 1853, the USA President Millard Fillmore sent an ambassador named Mattew C. Perry to Japan for four battleships. Perry had handed over the letter which was written by the president during that time to the Tokugawa administration and left Japan to come back a year later. The American president demanded that Japanese ports being opened to the trade, replenishment and mandatory status in the letter to which they had been sent. There were different opinions within Japan regarding the answer to this letter. However, this letter had to give a positive answer, since it was not possible to counter the military against the Shogun American. This answer was formalized by the Kanagawa agreement. However, the American government, not satisfied with this agreement, made a new deal with Tokugawa Shogun in the year of 1858 with the efforts of Towsend Harris, who was appointed Consul General. By this agreement, Americans gain unilateral broad privileges. Tokugawa Shogunate soon has to recognize the same privileges for many western countries under American influence.

Recent researches on Turkish art has begun to dwell more closely on the figural decoration, and new opinions have been asserted particularily regarding the symbolic meaning of the figures.Peacok, a bird species from phasianidae family, has attracted great attention and has been a significant symbol in iconography of many civilization thanks to its tale formed by an artsy feather particularly seen in the male kind. When analyzed in terms of iconography, it is clearly seen that the peacock figure is an emblem used to represent the sovereignty of the monarch in the pre-Islam Middle-Asian Turkish culture. This tradition has also carried on after the acceptance of Islam. The peacock figure also prevails above and below the thrones in the scenes that depicted the monarchs’ thrones. Moreover, it is known that the peacock figure represents beauty, status and honor in the Middle-Asian Turkish culture. Therefore, the figure is frequent in the decoration of magnificent buildings like palaces. Following the acceptance of Islam, the peacock figure has been identified as the ‘heaven bird’ symbolizing heaven. The portrayal of streams in the heaven with huge rivers has led the use of peacock figure in the structures related to water. Used as a decoration element in various areas from the early ages of Turkish art to the end of Ottoman era, the peacock figure, along with its aesthetical outlook, has presented a mysterious and prosperous world through its symbolic meaning.

In this study, the subject of individual performance evaluation, a field frequently studied in the field of management sciences, was dealt with in the context of the works and views of Alfred Adler. More specifically, in this study, manager-based performance appraisal mistakes, a subset of performance evaluation, are described in the Adler psychology school. Although there are a large number of academic studies on the topic of performance appraisal in the context of human resources management in general, there are not many studies on performance appraisal errors. Moreover, no academic work in English or Turkish has been the subject of any specific psychological school description of performance evaluation mistakes. Despite the fact that he has given works in the field of psychology, Adler has addressed the basic issues that can provide meaningful contributions to performance appraisal literature by his books, articles and conferences try to make administrators and employees accept themselves as personality and how they reflect this on their performance such as how managers and employees try to recognize themselves as personality and how they reflect this on their performance. As a psychiatrist he was able to make such striking insights into the impact of Adler's psychological elements on managers and employees due to the fact that his own aim was to provide the same amount of contribution to both the theoretical and the vital issues, and to have a sufficiently comprehensive content to accomplish this.

ANALYSIS OF GENERAL ELECTIONS IN ANTALYA CITY (1983-2015)

Recently, increase in studies about election geography has been seen. In this study, Antalya city is considered in the context of election geography. Accordingly, the general elections between 1980 and 2015 are examined according to the geographical principles and principles, based on participation rates, number of valid votes and party results. Moreover, this structure in the city is also compared with the average of Turkey. On the other hand, this study focuses on the political changes and their causes in the city during the period. Therefore, the basic data of the study was obtained from the Higher Election Board (YSK) and the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) and various internet web pages. It is noteworthy that the attendance rates have changed continuously from 1980 to the present day by going out of the obtained data. With a participation rate of 91.2% in 1983 and 91.4% in 1987 after the coup d'état, it has passed the 90% band, as in the whole country, and this rate has not been caught again in the city. The participation rates in the 2002 elections showed a significant decline. On the other hand, participation rates in the city of Antalya exceeded the average of Turkey in 1991, 1995, 2007, 2011, 07 June 2015 and 01 November 2015 elections.
According to the voting results, in the city of Antalya, it has been seen that the center was left in the elections of 1983, 1987, 1991 and 1995, whereas in 1999 and 2002 the center left was in front. In the course of the election year in 2007, the center-right front was seen in 2007 and 2011, but in the elections of June 7, 2015, the center-left dominance was seen to be center-right again in the elections of 1 November 2015. This shows us that there are fluctuations in the voters who participate in the elections periodically in Antalya. On the other side, the nationalist parties, which had a rate of 29.41% in the June 7, 2015 elections, and the conservative parties vote rates in both in the country as a whole and in the city in the 1995 elections have attracted attention. From these judgments it can be concluded that the election results that the nationalist voters reach a certain number of votes in the city of Antalya and the conservative voters have little concentration in the city center compared to the country as a whole.

It is based on the concept of "natural rights", which is based on the idea of human rights, which has a great political and social important. Though it is of ancient Greek origin, philosophers like Hobbes, Locke and Spinoza in the 17th and 18th centuries have intensively studied and considered the idea that people have some natural rights. Hobbes and Spinoza make the secularization movement initiated by Machiavelli by basing the political sphere, law and morality on the concept of "right", not on the concept of "law and duty" as the classical political philosophy tradition does. Both thinkers use terminologies when explaining the concept of natural rights. But in the transition from the natural to the civil situation, they think differently about rights. In the transition to the civilian situation, while Hobbes thinks that all rights should be transferred to Leviathan, the sovereign, except for the right to life, which is the most natural right of man Spinoza thinks that besides the right to life, freedom of thought should not be transferred to te sovereign.

The history of bookbinding started as early as the 7th Century especially in Egypt and Middle Asia, and reached its utmost level during the Ottoman Period. The most beautiful examples of this art were produced in the 16th Century Ottoman State. This classical art has been carried until our present times by the masters of this art although very few in number. Thanks to the importance given by Fatih the Conqueror to all branches of art, the artists of the Palace brought works of art with high aesthetical value from gorgeous architectural structures to uniquely-beautiful hand-woven clothes to our cultural heritage, and the manuscripts that were written for the special library of the Sultan left their marks on the era. The color and composition principles of the Turkish Culture were developed with the expression of the qualified muralists, and new styles were formed. The pattern designs that are still the sources of inspiration today in many fields were clearly shown in the Ottoman Art of Book-Binding. Since these designs were fed by belief and culture concepts together, they have the codes of the details of our history on them. This study aims to reveal the color-pattern-composition relation over the examples of the Ottoman Period Art of Book-Binding.

The development of technology brought development of new communication methods. As the communication technology developed, the internet has become a part of our lives and it has become much easier for individuals to communicate with each other. The fact that the consumer contracts can be established between citizens of different countries creates the character of foreignness in contracts.
Electronic consumer contracts with foreign characters and the dispute settlement regarding these contracts are governed by the International Private and Civil Procedure Law No. 5718. The freedom of choice of law recognized in international private law is limited in consumer contracts. Because consumers are in a weaker position than the other side of the contract, they need to be protected. For this reason, the said law has linked the choice of law to various conditions. In case of non-selection of the law, article 26 of the law applies. There are a number of complications which may arise when the provisions of the said law applies to electronic consumer contracts. For instance, foreign consumer electronics contracts do not because of its nature may not exactly fall into the scope of this provision. Moreover, the issue of jurisdiction is also problematic. The competent court that has jurisdiction regarding these consumer contracts is regulated under article 45 of the said law. The fact that many of these consumer contracts are established in the virtual environment may also cause a set of problems, which further complicates the jurisdiction and the law to be applied to these contracts.
Today, the number of disputes arising from consumer electronic consumer contracts with foreign elements are on the rise. In light of this, this paper examines consumer contracts with foreign elements, law that applies to these contracts and complications which may arise from how the Turkish law deals with these contracts.

While historical novels are be fictionalised, history knowledge is necessary. Also history is a fiction. Writer and reader are searching for truth in this information. The historian has a greater responsibility than the historical novel author. Many historians tell the same story. But no historian can tell exactly the same thing. This situation raises doubt to the reader. Historical novel writer creates thesis with this suspicion and fictions.
The historian leaves a blank in the narrative. These blanks are subjective. So the readers approach the narrative with suspicion. Lukacs says this is a phenomenon of reification. Historical novel is constructed from here.
Sevinç Çokum’s Hilâl Görününce and Gözyaşı Çeşmesi novels are about Crimean Turks. This study will be evaluated in terms of historical novel and characterization.

Namık Kemal’s novel, named İntibah, is known the first literary novel in Turkish literature. The novel, along with this well-known reputition has an informative role in many subjects such as the socio-cultural situation of the time, human relations, life practices, family order. This study focuses on the family, the parent-son relationship in the family and the individualization of the son.
The 19th century is also the key to the transition from collective life to individuality with the modernization movement for the Ottomans. Because in this period positivism is adopted especially through literature. Intibah refers to the story of son Ali Bey, who can not make himself in the absence of authority born of his father's loss. The death and the absence of the father as well as the authority he has established in his life are the determinants of his son's journey to the individual. Despite the fact that the father was reported dead on the first pages of the novel, the dominant role of father continues throughout the novel. On the other hand, every move that mother Fatma Hanım makes about her son leads to the destruction of Ali Bey's life. It is noteworthy that the authority that the father has is not given to your mother after his loss.
