Comparative Literature is a social science discipline that researches and compares two or more national literatures from linguistic, cultural and social aspects and criticizes them when necessary. Comparative littérateur and linguists often work on the main motifs of literature in the traditions of many languages, so they are interdisciplinary and therefore make use of translation studies, art history, sociology, criticism theories, cultural studies and social history research. Comparative literature, as a literary science fiction, tells us about the literatures, cultures, languages and traditions including the whole world.
Comparative literature compares the existence of different cultures and literatures with examples in globalizing world literature. The comparative literature researches which become an important science branch with the rapid development of the technological information and cultural communication network that is developing nowadays, the importance of literature and literary history is emphasized. Because people are now making rapid progress from monolingualism to multilingualism, and most of the nations in the world are now multilingual and not monolingual.
We can say that when we analyses foreign texts, we learn the deficiencies or superiorities of our literary texts and feels the opportunity to develop his own literature in order to promote it to this globalizing world. When we look at our works with a different perspective through different cultures we can discover ourselves with the literary works of others.

Brahms’ two Sonatas in f-minor and E-flat major, Op. 120, were primarily written for the clarinet and piano. However Brahms transcribed both sonatas to viola by himself right after composing them to clarinet. Comparing the clarinet and viola versions of the sonatas, it is obviously seen that Brahms distinguished the potential of each instrument. He used different characteristics from these two instruments by composing two different versions. Each version is different not only about the tone color or timbre, but also playing techniques, like vibrato, lip pressure, leap shifting, volume, and range. In this article, I will observe the differences between the clarinet and the viola versions, especially focusing on the unique characteristics of the each instrument. As a result of this study, I believe that it contributes the practicing and understanding the sonatas quite easily

The purpose of this research is to determine whether the life satisfaction and loneliness are significant predictor of academic success, one of the key variables in educational research. Data were obtained from 630 students in eight different secondary schools located on the east coast of the Eastern Black Sea Region during the 2015-2016 school year. Personal information form, UCLA loneliness scale and life satisfaction scale were used as data collection tool in this research. In this research, the reliability coefficient of the UCLA loneliness scale was found 0.81, and the reliability coefficient of the life satisfaction scale was found 0.69. Multiple linear regression analysis was performed to answer the research question. In academic achievement, life satisfaction was not a significant predictor, but loneliness was negative predictor. Overall loneliness score describes .036 of academic achievement. It has been found that as the general loneliness scores increase, the academic achievement decreases and as the general loneliness scores decrease, the academic achievement level increases. General loneliness is also undesirable, as it is undesirable to have a low academic achievement. From this point of view, the academic success of the general loneliness score can be interpreted as an expected outcome of the negative direction procedure. It can be said that solving these problems of students who are lonely can make a positive impact on academic achievement.

Art works are of great importance when we can have knowledge about the history of culture and the societies that lived in the past. In this sense, vegetable weaves produced in traditional weaving can be regarded as production oriented activities arising from the needs of the community where the raw material is abundant locally. Mesh weaving is performed in the marsh areas where stagnant water resources are present depending on the intensive cultivation of plant raw materials.
In this study, we will try to give information about the raw materials, technical, design and usage areas of the mesh fabrics produced in the town of Develi, Sindelhöyük, Kayseri province.
Wire mesh weaving in the region is important because it relieves the labor force and provides a source of income. With the development of technology in recent years, business opportunities in different fields have removed the art of weaving from being a source of livelihood. The emergence of alternative products of woven weaving and marketing difficulties have been a factor in the disappearance of this handicraft.
This work was carried out in order to indicate the importance of the disappearing matte weaving art, to determine the usage areas of the related raw materials and to contribute to the source of livelihood.

The students, who are enrolled at German Preparatory Language Programme at the School of Foreign Languages, lack German speaking skills. To address this problem, we’ve designed extra-curricular German speaking activities. An ERASMUS+ exchange staff (a German trainee teacher of German as a foreign language) conducted out-of-class German speaking activities once a week for three weeks in total. Each speaking activity is lasted for 1,5 hours per week. 7 volunteered students of German language preparatory programme attended the speaking activity regularly. The activity took place at a cafe in the university campus. Three data collection tools were used. A questionnaire, which is an adapted version of Sabo’s questionnaire, is applied. An interview is then held with each student on individual basis. The German trainee teacher took fieldnotes after each activity. Almost all students note that the opportunity to communicate in German enable them to improve their speaking skills, the use of grammatical rules and vocabulary.

It is possible to recognize classical literature, by recognizing and understanding the sources that feed this literary tradition. Islamic thought begins with the understanding that "everything is known with its opposite". The meaning codes of Islamic thought have an important place in the classical literature shaped by the common Islamic civilization. In "Sheikh San?an Story" taking place in the piece of art created by Ferîdüddin Attâr's named “Mantıku't-Tayr", structures constituting the literariness such as meaning, message, aesthetic code, fiction, etc. have gained existence entirely within this understanding. It draws attention to the meaning and aesthetic codes that feed the literary work of the thought life. In the story, it is seen that the opposite elements such as Muslim-Christian, profanity-faith, prostration to Allah – prostration to icons and so on, feed the understanding of love and mysticism in the center of the story. The notion of love and mysticism, which is the axiom of the story, is embodied by the natural shaping of Attâr's conscious preference and tradition. Using the expressions of thought in the meaning and aesthetic codes of classical literature and handling them by history, philosophy and sociology reading, gives original and accurate results. Attar's Sheikh San?an story contains the traces of “Assumption of Conscience” which is originated by Persian mysticism, as well as being a story shaped by the idea of Islamic thought in the sense of "everything is known with its opposite" in a unity. Evaluation of the story in this context, presents a rich material.

Teaching geography to younger generations is an important issue in England as it is in many other countries around the world. In this sense, National Curriculum was published in England to take educational affairs to a certain level; and geography courses curricula were shaped according to this program. On the other hand, teacher training was constantly questioned in England to correct the aspects that seem defective. In England, certain basic characteristics that are expected to be possessed by teachers were determined. To this end, geography teachers are requested to possess certain characteristics in professional terms. Through literature review, detailed data were collected initially in the study. Field survey was also conducted in the study, and various secondary schools and universities in England were visited. At the end of the study, it was seen that in order to be a geography teacher in England one has to be granted with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), a “teaching certificate” named Teaching Qualification (TQ) or a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).

At the stage of evaluating Turkish cinema, considering the influence of socialist realist understanding which is the period starting from Lüt-fiÖmerAkad and continued with MetinErksan and Yılmaz Güney after 1950’s, would be appropriate. The main axis of this paper is retrospec-tively examining 1st Independent Cinema comprehension starting with 1900’s as well as 2nd Independent Cinema comprehension of 2000’s. In this study, cause and effects of the development process of New Cinema Movement and Another Cinema will be discussed by considering the def-initions of 1st& 2nd Independent Cinemas. The paper will also focus on the concept of auteur and the producer-scriptwriter-director relationship. Therefore, disposition of Turkish Cinema after 1990’s and the problematic issues related to it are significantly important in terms of addressing the issues mentioned below. The second part of the paper is consisting of the sector’s supplying chain monopoly which has not been able to become truly a sector yet. Because the concept director is on paper only since Yeşilçam Era which was cornered by “producer-supplier and manager-ship” chain. The corruption of cinema that is gradually turned into a sort of shopping mall as well as today’s condition faced together are broadly evaluated in the light of a critic of this system. The article, which is hand-led by literature review method, is a compilation.

Violence overshadows people’s lives by means of its way of manifestation and limits their activities. According to Jean Marie Domenach violence itself is a kind of deathly power burst and it is a psychologically meaningless appearance. Vittorio Di Martino classifies violence in two forms as physical and psychological. Violence includes all kinds of disruptive actions causing to injure target persons physically or psychologically by means of uncontrolled power which is fatal. Besides physical and psycological violence there exists mental, sexual, moral, economic and judical types of violence. In this context it can be said that violence shows itself as a fact to which people are extremely subjected and it effects the organisation of social life in an unfavourable way. Anthony Burgess’ A Clockwork Orange gives a panoroma of a youth culture devoted themselves to rape, torture, rubbery and murder. Fifteen-year-old Alex and his friends are in the same gang and it is their entertainment to give any harm to people inside or outside their houses at nights. Burgess emphasizes such concepts like assault, threat abuse, harassment, sexual harassment and bullying during Alex’s versatile disruptive behaviors and actions. In the study, these concepts are analyzed in order to show the boundaries of physical and psychological violence, its reasons and results in the representation of Alex and his gang in the light of Albert Bandura’s theory of social learning.

The aim of this research is to show how accounting was invented and applied in ancient civilizations and how it reached to the present day. History of accounting can be traced back to oldest texts in 3200-3100 before century (B.C.). These are sequences of markers of pictograms representing precursors of direct nail-engraved letters engraved on clay tablets in dell'Eanna in monumental temple district of Uruk in southern Iraq. Content of these letters is administrative and consists lists of supplies and products distributed to employees. Prehistoric accounting systems are basically based on two tools: Accounting symbols and seals. This study traces history of accounting. Individuals and systems contributing to management and implementation of accountancy in ancient civilizations are discussed. Additionally, double entry accounting system first used in Mesopotamia and its development through 14th Century were emphasized. Finally, some religions are considered in terms of their view and perspective of accounting.

The film called Her (Love), which carries existentialist signs, was dealt with as a document providing sociological data and it was analyzed within the context of alienation. The purpose of the study is to determine the factors causing the occurrence of alienation phenomenon within the context of the film, which focuses on the relationship between an operating system having an artificial intelligence and human. Events and circumstances associated with alienation phenomenon are examined, and how the metropolis life and rapid change experienced in communication technologies affected human relations was tried to be explained in the study that was made with qualitative method. Different dimensions of alienation concerning communication problems are discussed over the use of digital technology, man-woman relationships and institution of marriage in the movie. This study demonstrates that for a person to be depended on computer technology in order to meet his/her communication need, and to deliver his/her all-mental production and activity causes alienation. Since social gender roles identifying woman-man relations and the institution of marriage obligates human to comply with certain behavioral patterns, they cause alienation. Metropolis life also alienates human since it obligates human to live away from nature and among a crowd of people, who are stranger to him/her. It is seen that alienation arises in any case concerning human and it is inevitable for human.

The aim of this paper is to analyze trade relationship between Turkey and 10 Balkan countries between 2006-2016 period by using gravity model approach. We used both export and import values between Turkey and Balkan countries as dependent variables. Our independent variables are Gross Domestic Product (GDP) (current US$) and distance between capital cities of Turkey and other Balkan countries. It can be stated that the gravity model of trade between Turkey and Balkan countries holds for 2006 and 2016 period. That means the trade potential between Turkey and Balkan countries increases if the masses, represented by the GDP, of these countries increases. In addition to base gravity model, the other factors effecting trade between Turkey and the Balkansa are examined by using dummy variables. According to the findings EU membership of Balkan countries, having common language and colonial past are influential factors on trade between Turkey and the Balkans. Study also indicates that there are unused trade potential especially between Bulgaria, Slovenia, Bosnia Herzigovina and Turkey. Utilization of this potential can provide mutual benefits for Turkey and Balkan countries.

One of the biggest problems faced by disabled people is poverty. Poverty for the disabled is a bigger and more difficult problem to overcome due to their own special circumstances, the social barriers they face and the application of public policies. Public administration passivates the disabled by continuing to provide conventional social supports, which cause the disabled’s further exclusion from society. In order to be beneficial to the disabled, but without considering the side effects, realization of the disabled’s participation in economic and social life by implementing the laws is desired. Strategies that are aimed to solve the problem seem not working because of the fact that the disabled’s inclusion to the economic life is only perceived as being employed by public or private companies even though there are many barriers in real life. In order to make these strategies functional it is necessary to provide regulations and incentives that enable disabled people to set up their own businesses. This study presents suggestions on what kind of physical barriers the disabled may face for the entrepreneurial activities and how interested parties can overcome these barriers.

The sale of movable properties, which have a considerably large place in international trade, is regulated by international contracts. International regulations are crucial for ensuring the legal security and stability of international trade because national legal systems are not satisfactory in this respect. Thus, United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (Uncitral) adopted the “United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (Vienna Sales Convention)” on April 11, 1980.
The purpose of Vienna Sales Convention is to ensure the development of legal security and stability of international trade and international friendly relations and to promote the development of international trade. Adoption of Vienna Sales Convention by approximately 80 countries and the application of the provisions of the convention in domestic law indicates that the convention is recognised by different legal systems. For this reason, it is not wrong to say that this Convention is a successful international text that fulfills its purpose.
This Convention, which has great importance, has also been ratified by Turkey and entered into force on 01.08.2011. Therefore, determination of the application area of the contract is important.
In this paper, the field of application of the Vienna Sales Convention will be examined in terms of location, subject and time.

"Sâkî" is someone who distributes or presents water with a dictionary meaning, watering, drinking wine in the bezm-i waqf and pouring it in the glasses of wine. In Divan poetry, the meclise gives joy and vitality to one of the most important elements of the bezm's world. It is his duty to circulate and distribute drinks. In our literary works, which are praised by real or figurative means of drink and drink, are also called sâkî-nâme. It is understood from the Sâkî-nâmeler that the profession is a very old profession, that it includes duties such as offering drinks in the chamber of parliament, organizing parliamentary adabas, and that this profession is gradually becoming more graceful and that saqids know poetry and music in addition to special skills. In the dimension of mysticism, "sâkî" is a pîr-i mugan which presents love wine, mürşid-i kâmilidir of meyhanen. Ameyhane is a place full of love and enthusiasm from passions.
In this report, the use of the word "sâkî" in Classical Turkish Literature and the significance of the poets with this concept will be discussed.

Emerging information technologies make it possible to store large amounts of data. However, the extraction of meaningful and useful information can be achieved with data mining techniques. In this study, course evaluation questionnaire belonging to end of the semester of higher education institution was used. Decision tree techniques were used to determine the applications that could be implemented to increase the success of students depending on responses to likert scale questions were 5820 university students by a state university in Turkey. In order to increase student success; It has been seen that factors such as gaining new perspectives to the students, making practices that will increase participation in the lesson, and increasing the professional development have positive effects on student achievement. It was understood that the students who took the course for the first time gave more positive answers when evaluating the lesson than the students who took two and over again. Also, because students tend to give similar responses to questions, it is important that the survey is implemented before the last class hour. The answers obtained from the students should have been diversified and thus, it will obtain more healthy results and detailed information about the course and teaching members.
