THE CAPTION PROBLEM IN NATIONAL PRESS NEWS PHOTOS AND SUGGESTIONS

Besides being a communication tool itself, photos can be supported with explanatory elements to make encoded messages clearer. Such explanatory texts related to news photos used in the newspapers are called captions.
Captions have the same importance for the photo news that photos have for news. However, news captions are usually full of question marks.
This article looks for explaining and giving examples of how captions are supposed to be, exemplifying the problems with the captions used in the newspapers. The front-page news and the texts related to the news photos of the 5 most published newspapers of the national press were scanned as examples. At the end of the scanning, the photo news and the texts related to the photos are analyzed.
The content of the captions (the texts related to the photos) are analysed in terms of their place on the photo, their relation to the photo and punctuation. Based on the negative and positive examples of captions detected as a result of the analyses, suggestions are made about how they ought to be.
Today most of the national newspapers seem to abandon the method of using captions. It is especially true for the front page and the back pages. Using what the colored print method and photoshop technique has to offer, texts related to the news, instead of captions, are placed in a suitable space in the photo frame where objects are not seen. (Photo 10a, 10b, 10c). This sort of page design makes it difficult to understand the real value of photos. Furthermore, it leads to the fact that the photo loses it meaning and the photo and the text mutually make each other ineffective. In most cases the information in the photo is insufficient in terms of journalism. However, captions make the photo more valuable completing the information the photo tries to give.
As can be seen in the analyzed examples, newspapers transformed the display of the photo and the caption taking away their original purpose in order to create a different page design or a different way of reporting. However, readers demand to read the photo as clearly as they read the news. The photo should reveal the information of who, where, when and what, and the caption should be explanatory. Besides, the name of the photojournalist who has taken the photo should be written under the photo. Today, the name of the journalist finds no place for itself not only under the photos but also most of the news reports.
?	Captions should not contain comments. It should show what is seen as explaining what is not seen comes along with new question marks.
?	Captions should explain what might need explanation in the photo. They should not be inconsistent with what is seen in the photo.
?	Help should be asked from experts for the statements related to science and sports jargon that requires particular specialization.
?	Captions should not spoil the display of the photo. Texts should not be placed on the photo in the spaces of the photo, which will make the photo difficult to understand. These kinds of technics make the photo lose its value, and it is not an ethical behavior towards the owner.
At the final stage, talents of the page designer matter. Design is an important part of the journalism process. It is not a decoration but a communication means. A designer starts work with an empty newspaper page and a mosaic of ideas to communicate. His job is to present this mosaic in a clear and organized way.
The suggestions made in the article are not a must, however, they are suggestions that will help the mass communication tool called newspaper have better quality both in content and format.

Abdulaziz was a throne in the Ottoman Empire's hard times. This decline of the state which started to descend after Kanuni Sultan Süleyman continued during the time of Abdulaziz. During the reign of his brother Abdulmecid, he lived a fairly free life and received a thorough education. In the days when Abdulaziz was the throne, the situation of the Ottoman State was very mixed. The financial crisis has come to an end, and the rebellion in Karadağ was going to turn into a war. The province of Hersek was also in great confusion. The Ottoman state was dealing with intense internal and external affairs. At such a time, the life ended when he tried to direct the Ottoman Empire. However, Abdulaziz's suicide or murder is a matter that continues until daylight and occasionally becomes current with various reasons and occasions. This matter started shortly after the acquaintance and many things have been said and written about it. In our work, we will make an assessment based on the New York Herald Newspaper, which was published on Monday, February 23, 1880.

The most distinctive feature of the lifestyle of nomadic groups in the Ottoman State was seasonal journey with their animals. By this way of life, the nomads would be separated from the inhabitants. The purpose of the migration was to graze the animals. For this reason, they would migrated between the places called the yaylak-kişlak. The migration between these two places was different in terms of geography. This migration in Karaman Province’s geography sometimes took place in four stages. These stages were called yazlak-güzlek as interregnum periods and yaylak-kişlak as main periods.

These yaylak and kişlak places were usually registered as a country to Karaman nomadics. Therefore, it had to be avoided the conflicts among nomads about the yaylak and kişlak places. Some of the migrants in this region adopted a nomadism closer to a permanent settlement. These nomadic groups who were interested not only in stockbreeding but also agriculture had some fields as well.

ANTI-PHILOSOPHICAL ATTITUDES IN THE HISTORY OF ISLAMIC THOUGHT

We can summarize the attitudes taken towards the philosophy in the Islamic world under three headings. The first group represents the aspects of those who accept philosophy as a scientific activity. In this context, the main philosophers such as Ibn Sina and Fakhr al-Din al-Razi will be taken as the basis.
The followers of the second group are those who are against philosophy, and who have different reasons and different philosophical definitions. We would like to discuss this group through the major thinkers such as Gazzali and Ibn Taymiyyah.
The representatives of the third group are those who are eclectics, trying to reconcile Islamic religious sciences with philosophy. Fakhr al-Din al-Razi conducted this activity in favor of Kalam, but the attitude of Ibn Rushd was in favor of philosophy. In other words, Fakhr al-Din al-Razi included the sciences such as Metaphysics and Logic into the Islamic sciences, especially the Kalam, but Ibn Rushd defended Metaphysics and Logic as a counterpoint to Kalam.
We also aim to contact the notion of philosophy that has been discussed in the New Age Western philosophy through examples of Descartes and Kant, as well as some of the controversies that have been made in our country in recent years.
The article will be based on the philosophers own Works and the second sources will be used if necessary.

Resurrection is one of the most important themes in Koran is the holy writ of Islam when its text is classified thematically. This event which is described in some verses how it will occur but isn’t mentioned its time is symbolized by approximately thirty words and word groups in the text. Under favour of being the first in terms of frequency among the other words and word groups, the common name of this event is “kıyamet” and it originates from the word ?iyameh is the noun form of the polysemic verb ?ame related with its “to stand up” meaning. This word always takes place in the noun phrase yevmX’l-?iyameh with the word yevm means “day” in the text. But this is not the only noun phrase corresponds to resurrection in Koran text. In addition, the term resurrection is corresponded by the metonymias consist of noun phrases yevmu’l-?a??, yevmE’l-?isab, yevmX’l-fa?l whose determinatums are mostly the word yevm and one-word as es-sa?at, el-?a??a, el-?ari?ah.
Each individual owns social, emotional, mental and physical differences. These interrelated features bring along different academic achievements, individual interest and talents. Individuals who are talented and eager to improve in the field of special talent or art; such as painting, theatre or music, sustain their progress by means of private or official initiatives. Although it is quite rare, individuals who have much upper limits than others in terms of achievement and talent, are possible to be encountered in these fields. This study explains progressively the diagnosis process of a student whose gifts have been identified by the music teacher. By means of sharing experiences and including these suggested explanations in literature as a sample diagnosis process; it is aimed to provide information for teachers and school administrators who may be assigned in such diagnosis commissions, and shed light upon other diagnosis processes, when necessary.

Language, stimulation, design, production and usage studies are areas where basic linguistic information concerning language nature is clustered. Their predecessor is the language acquisition. The relationship between the fields mentioned is determined by a sequence which is not added. Language usage is final and concrete. Native tendency/teaching, in general, is carried out through this final, concrete phase. In this article, my use of the word ‘stimulation’ is limited to the pre-language context. I propose that language theory and language teaching are closely connected.
Language production is the process which incorporates the non-verbal planning of a sentence, and then, the mechanical production of language which involves various cognitive centres. For example, complex grammatical, vocabulary and syntactical processes which are contingent on the environmental context. This provides the meaningful foundation of language.
Phenomenoligcally, language usage informs an individual’s social connectedness with the social world. Of course, language includes its various forms such as speaking and writing. This study emphasises the relationship between areas of language production, text linguistics, psycholinguistics and language teaching in relation to mother tongue teaching and education. The study will also provide suggestions for understanding this relationship.

The first effort of the individual to grow up according to the value judgments of the society he belongs to is socialization. This position of the individual who builds the field of trust through socialization is eventually overcome by the personal search process. Two important tools help an individual to get rid of being a social object and be subjectivist: criticism and self-criticism. In this plane, which is based on the conflict between the subject after the truth and the crowds of traditional cultures, the artist will choose the noble loneliness and look at the issues from this perspective. The subjectivity we are looking for in Ismet Özel's poem "Mataramda Tuzlu Su" corresponds to a search for a door that is open to utopian senders. In this poem we read as a rejection of social alienation, the journey portrayed by the poet is the genuine construction of me, which gains more meaning together with modernity. In an alienated society, the forfeit of the construction of the poet's authentic subject has been the loneliness.

While textiles and ornamentation techniques shape the conditions of different geography in nature, many differences constitute a rich spectrum. Unfortunately, the development of industry and technology has made the cultural and aesthetic value of handicrafts of old techniques obscure by leaving a shadow in the commercial context. In this context, it gives textile designers an important responsibility to live cultural values and to warn contemporary modern times. In the past, production methods and materials used in daily textile industry played an active role in shaping all brands and products of textile. The production methods and the textile products provided by the material are formed. Today, modern manufacturing methods provide many advantages to the designers. These methods are to bring renewable materials, patterns and designers that can not be used before in textiles to the textile and fashion world.
Although Zamahshari (467/1075) and Abu Hayyan (745/1344) lived in different centuries, they came to the forefront with their abilities and insight in Arabic language in their own era. While The Tefseer of Zamakhshari's, Kashshaaf, is dirayah exegesis, Aboo Hayyan's al-Bahr al-muhit is riwaya exegesis. In the works of these two important exegesis commentators who have come to the forefront in terms of language and eloquence, I'câz al-Qur'an, one of the tafseer sciences, attracts the attention. Both commentators gave great importance to the examination of the Qur'an in terms of lugat, nahiv, eloquence and i’caz. In our study, there will be a review of how the subject of İ’câzu’l -Qur'an is discussed in these two different exegesis. Furthermore, in these two exegesis, It is tried to be determined that which subheads of the İ’câzü’l -Qur'an are handled (language, style, gayb news, natural sciences etc.).
The acceleration of the changes in technology in a revolutionary magnitude generates innovative production methods. Enabling the employment of these production methods in industry began as a result of encouraging the sector in this area and sharing academic experiences with it. While the designs created with these applications are seminal and inspirational, lack of methodological knowledge and sources on production process and the vagueness during it could be restrictive in terms of innovative method attempts. In this practice, it was aimed to create original textile surface designs by using 3D printers. Within the practice, textile surfaces designed with experimental methods were produced with 3D production methods. In production process, as 3D production methods FDM, SLA and SLS were employed and as production material PLA, PA and Tango Black were used and the positive and negative results obtained were analysed. It is thought that using 3D printing technology in innovative textile designs and productions can give unlimited opportunities to designers and the knowledge and experiences gained from the practices performed with innovative approaches can be beneficial to the researchers interested in the area.

This article studies on Turk-Syrian relationships which began to normalize by the end of 1990s within a framework of “AK Party rule. While addressing the normalization and development processes of the two countries' relations, the study focused on the main arguments underlying the rapidly deteriorating relations. Turkey-Syria relations were directly influenced by the dynamism brought by changes in government in both two countries. The active EU policy that the AK Party pursued with its "close to working with the West" attitude, which Bashar al-Assad as well displayed in his country and in Lebanon with his power, has been a clear indication that relations have found a medium from a broad perspective. Besides, democratic sociologic and economic problems that Syria has been accumulated, have been historically sharing a bond with Turkey. After the incidents that started in early 2011, relations between the two countries quickly broke down. Relations have resulted as the way Turkey reapproaches the problems which it has historically bonds with while Syria strenghened the ties with its historical partners. The conclusion of the Syrian civil war in favor of the Assad regime enabled the relations to be carried out through direct negotiations with the Geneva and Astana processes.
