This paper sheds light on a thrilling feminist triangle in The Pull of The Stars, Julia Power, Dr. Kathleen Lynn, and Bridie Sweeney and manifests how each character endures different unpleasant experiences and goes through a variety of painful attitudes. It also discloses females’ income and their economic status, exhibits plainly women’s social and political situations, and how males downgraded females in career areas just because they were women in Ireland in the 20th century. The paper also shows how women throughout history have helped their societies in different fields and tasks; in times of war by treating the injured and manufacturing weapons; in politics as inspiring thinkers, revolutionaries, Sinn Feiners, and freedom fighters; in the health sector as nurses and doctors, especially during pandemics; in houses as breadwinners, housewives, and nurturers, etc. Furthermore, this paper illuminates the miracle of birth, the challenges of midwifery, yet more superiorly the blood tax by females in the Irish masculine society. Moreover, this paper demonstrates how Emma Donoghue empowers women in a male-centric culture that belittles women, exploits their bodies to produce many children, prevents them from electing and expressing their opinions, practices gender discrimination in workplaces, and embraces economic inequality. It also addresses issues concerning the physical and psychological aspects of gestation, childbirth, maternity, matrimony, and family violence experienced by women, especially those from the poorest socioeconomic backgrounds in The Pull of The Stars. Finally, this paper uses a qualitative research method for analysis purposes and the interpretation process.

The Turkish Dictionary of the Turkish Language Institution, which has been published in 12 editions to date, has been the subject of numerous criticisms. One of these criticisms was that the meanings of the words selected as headwords were sometimes inadequate, sometimes incorrect, and sometimes incomplete. In this study, after criticizing the reorganization of the meanings of the lexemes ending with -mA and -mAk, the meanings and usage frequencies of the words adak-adama-adamak have been reconstructed in the light of the information obtained from the corpus, and it is also tried to draw attention to how the meanings of the words ending with -mA and -mAk should be written.

Iconographic Evaluation of the Kandil Motif on the Prayer Rugs Exhibited in the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts

The earliest example of a Turkish prayer rug is the 15th-century Ottoman prayer rug exhibited in the Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum. The composition of the prayer rugs, designed with Kufic script (calligraphy) and geometric forms, are important examples showing that the Seljuk art tradition was still continuing in the 15th century. It is also seen that the kandil motif, which symbolizes religious concepts, is used on some of the prayer rugs. The Kandil motif, which is used in the sense of illuminating, has been widely used by Muslims as a religious motif, on mosque altars, prayer rugs with altars, some textiles, tombstones, in realistic styles or stylized. In research conducted on prayer rugs and pure prayer rugs produced between the 15th and 18th centuries, exhibited in the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts, it was seen that the kandil motif was used. However, when the pattern and composition features of the kandil motif on the prayer rugs were examined over the centuries, it was determined that it was used in different forms and arrangements. In this context, it is aimed to make an iconographic evaluation of the kandil motif along with the composition features and color, material and pattern features of the prayer rug samples, which are preserved and exhibited in the Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum, which has an important place in Turkish Textile History. Thus, it is aimed to examine the process of transformation of the kandil motif from its real meaning into a symbolic motif on a century-by-century basis. These prayer rugs, which have high artistic value, are among the very important works because the changes seen in both their pattern and composition features reflect the social and political norms of the period, and they are intended to be an important resource for those who do research in this field after us.

Stars, which illuminate the world at night with their light have been considered a divine being, a power that directly affects the world and people and a guide with protective properties since ancient times, therefore they have been widely used in many cultures, belief systems and works of art. In Anatolian Turkish architecture, stars were applied intensively with various techniques by using different materials such as brick, stone, tile and wood with geometric compositions. Symbolically, the infinity of the sky is reflected in the decorations with star compositions. In addition, it was combined with calligraphy as a star form and applied as inscriptions in which sacred names were written in starform. These epigraphs, written in kufic calligraphy adhering to geometric principles in calligraphy are interesting examples in terms of their compositional features. In these epigraphs, the star as a form does not constitute the border of the text. The arms of the star are considered as a line and the written phrase constitutes the star as a whole. The star-formed epigraphs found on architectural works were created with five, six, eight and ten-pointed stars. In this article, the history of the star-formed cufic inscriptions found in 13. and 14. century Anatolian Turkish architecture were examined in terms of their design features stating their history, location in the structure, material, type of writing, phrase, calligrapher if known, etc. In addition, vectorial drawings were made and analyzed by coloring. Similar samples were searched in neighboring countries in terms of chronological development and interaction and the inscriptions found were briefly included.

Settlements where the residents earn their living through agriculture and husbandry and which are generally described according to population are defined as rural settlements. Architectural structures in rural areas are constructed with materials and techniques which are special to the region based on climate and in harmony with nature. This study aims to systematically examine in detail the theses written about rural architecture in the National Thesis Center of the Higher Education Council of Türkiye in the context of sustainable, ecological and local concepts. The bibliometric analysis method used in the study contributes to examining the theses related to the subject, observing the development of scientific studies, determining their relationship with other branches of science and gaining knowledge in this field. Firstly, the keyword “rural architecture” was searched in National Thesis Center of the Higher Education Council of Türkiye and 118 thesis were reached. These theses were entered into Excel program and the analysis was conducted. Then, the search was limited to the keywords “sustainable + rural architecture, ecological + rural architecture, local + rural architecture” and the content of the study was narrowed down in this way. By ading the theses that we aware of that were related to the subject that were not include in the scan, 64 theses became the sample of the study. This limitation was decided by taking into account the increase in energy consumption during architectural production and maintenance of architectural structures, and hence the decrease in world resources. In the findings section of the research; it was determined that the earliest study on the area subject to research was conducted in 1995, the most studies were conducted in 2019, and the rural Antalya was the most studied region. Moreover, basic resources used in this subject area, specialists working on the subject, methods employed in these studies and the subjects studied were demonstrated. It is believed that all these findings will be used as a guideline for the following research in this field of study.

In many societies, the term 'sacred' refers to power. Throughout history, people have attributed reality and power to stones based on their size, strength, shape, or color. The rough surface, hardness, and strength of stones caught the attention of ancient societies, who considered them to be manifestations of the sacred as part of their religious beliefs. Polytheistic religions often use cult objects in the form of semi-worked stones, wooden pillars, and stelae as aniconic elements. The most common cult objects reflecting the aniconic tradition are unworked or partially worked stones. In Hittite rituals and cult practices, huwaši stones are an important element. These stones are often placed perpendicularly in groves, mountains, forests, or other prominent spots in nature, near rivers, springs, and streams. During the Hittite period, gods and goddesses were represented as cult objects and totems, often referred to as huwaši in festive texts and cult inventories. Huwaši stones were considered manifestations of the gods on earth and were treated as such, being washed and oiled like cult statues. Offerings of food and sacrifices were made to these stones, and libations were poured.

Today, learning a second language has become easier due to changes in political and social structures, rapid development and changes in technology, as well as in connection with education in different countries. The main reference sources for learning a second language are words and their meanings in that language. The material that those who want to learn Turkish initially turn to is the world of words and the meanings of words. But one of the important issues is that foreigners are not being taught different meanings of words while learning Turkish. Usually, the main attention is paid to the basic meanings of words (especially when it comes to verbs), while other meanings, also often used in society, remain ignored. in turn, this prevents foreigners from building healthy communication. This study focuses on the meanings of thirty verbs widely used in the teaching of the Turkish language, of which some meanings are being taught and some are not, and the opinion is put forward that the meanings of verbs that are not being taught, but are quite popular among the society, are really necessary for foreign students.

Bulgaria, as a geographical place, had been introduced to Turkishness under the leadership of Asparuh Khan long before the Ottoman conquests. History, politics, religion, etc. It is known that Bulgarian Turks became Slavs due to its influence. This study focuses on the Turkish spoken by the Oghuz Turks, who were settled in the region by the Ottomans' policy of conquest. Sons of conquerors Bulgarian Turks have lived and proliferated in this region for centuries. The expulsion of Turks from the Balkans, which started with the Balkan Wars, continued until the 20th century. In every land where the Turks set foot, the Turkish language also set foot, spread and experienced changes. Bulgarian Turkish is included in the Eastern Rumelian Dialects according to Gyula Nemeth's classification. Although the Bulgaria-Koşukavak dialect is outside the political borders of Turkey, it has similar qualities to Anatolian dialects, from vocabulary to phonetics and morphology. However, there are aspects of the same topics that differ from Anatolian dialects for various reasons. This study touches upon the characteristic features of Koşukavak dialect, which is one of the Southeastern Bulgarian dialects. Koşukavak, officially known as Krumovgrad in Bulgarian, is a settlement in Southeastern Bulgaria, where the majority of the population consists of Turks. Although it was very intense during the rule of Todor Zhivkov, the region gave intense immigration to Turkey. Still, there is an active Turkish population in the region. While there is a wealth of dialect studies in Turkey, research on our dialects outside our borders is less compared to the ones done domestically. Most of the studies carried out are regional. This study aims to contribute to Turkology research abroad. Document analysis method was used while creating the study. The scope of the study covers only Koşukavak region. It contains sound and shape information in scientific terms. Although there are studies conducted in the Kırcaali region, the uncertainty of whether the sample fully covers the universe due to the study area being abroad and the lack of any studies or materials directly related to Koşukavak are the limitations of the study. Study; They are titled as introduction, phonetic features, morphological features and conclusion.

Education is not only helpful in adapting to changing life conditions, but it is also essential in improving the quality of life if it is provided lifelong continuity. Even in our time, inequality of opportunity in access to education can be experienced. It is observed that there are some problems in terms of women's ability to participate in education, to continue the education they have started, and to find employment based on the education they have received. Access to vocational training is also one of the problems. While women have difficulty even in attending primary school, they have a lot of difficulty in receiving vocational training. Continuity and employment opportunities after vocational training are also a problem for them. In this study, the vocational education status, access to vocational education and employment of women living in rural areas were emphasised. Descriptive case study design, one of the qualitative research methods, was applied and interview technique was applied as a data collection tool. For the interview, women in various villages in Bartın province were contacted, 11 women accepted the interview, but data could be obtained from 10 women. The interviews were recorded by video and audio recording with the informed consent of the participants. According to the findings obtained, only 3 out of 10 women living in rural areas have received vocational training. All 10 women are housewives. According to the findings obtained in this study, which was conducted to analyse the vocational training status of women living in rural areas, it was determined that the majority could not participate in vocational training courses.

Artificial Intelligence and Ai-Da Robot Case in the Context of the Relationship between Art Therapy and Creation

Artificial intelligence is advancing rapidly and has the potential to perform tasks such as work, writing, and speaking at a level comparable to humans. Additionally, AI is proving to be increasingly effective in the field of art. The use of computer programmes in the production of works of art has raised questions about the artistic qualities of these works, which is now an integral part of the postmodern process. It is crucial to differentiate between the simulation of artistic action by software intended to assist human life and the creative action of human beings. The latter encompasses the human desire for self-expression and the conveyance of emotions and thoughts associated with human experiences. This intermediate realm allows us to comprehend both our internal and external worlds with certainty. The healing process results in a form that emerges from artistic thinking. Art therapy is a necessary method in psychotherapy that demonstrates the importance of art. It functions as a bridge between the inner and outer worlds, enabling the expression of emotions that cannot be conveyed verbally. Artificial intelligence's role in art is questionable as it is designed to facilitate human life, while art is meant to be therapeutic. However, the therapeutic aspect of art can be maintained even in the face of the postmodern process, which has caused art to become deficient in its humanitarian essence, as the thought and concept-oriented perspective has gained importance. The significance of robots producing art raises important questions about the role of artificial intelligence in the art world. It is crucial to examine this impact, just as Danto and Brillo boxes challenged the definition of art from a unique perspective. This article asserts the importance of artistic expression and art therapy in emphasising the human aspect of creation, providing a critical view on the dehumanisation of art and its relationship with software-based work. The example of the artist robot Ai-Da is used to illustrate the subject.

Photography is accepted as an indicator of both the time in which it was produced and the society in which it exists. Therefore, just as technical analysis of photography can be done artistically, scientific analysis of the indicators it contains can be done through reading. In the research, 15 photographs that received the Pulitzer Prize for Photography were examined among the photographs taken between January and December 2020 during the COVID-19 period. Throughout this study, considering the impact of the award-winning photograph on society, the semiotic analysis method was preferred to better understand the qualities that make the Pulitzer Prize-winning photographs different during the selection and presentation. In the feature-length series, which includes 15 different photographs, the process experienced by the elderly regarding their current period is presented with the theme of “loneliness”. The main and side element interactions of the award-winning photographs are positioned around the fear and anxiety of death that the pandemic has created in society, especially on the elderly population, and the concept of loneliness it brings with it.

In addition to providing understanding between people, language is also the carrier of the customs, traditions and customs that make up a society, in a broader sense, culture. People, who form the basic structure of society, unite around common values and create social cooperation and solidarity. So much so that this social cooperation and solidarity is reflected in the vocabulary of societies, and these words are even carried between societies through borrowing. Keşik is a sequential cooperation system created by villagers in Anatolia to graze their animals. Nowadays, it has started to be used for work done through collective work in various regions of Turkey. The kasik system was not only related to animal husbandry or cooperation in common work, but also entered the Mongolian military order in the 13th century. In the Secret History, which is considered the oldest source of the Mongols, Chingiz Khan named the guard unit turgak kesik (day guard). The word käzig / keşik, which was first seen in Uyghur Turkish texts, continued to be used in the historical Turkish dialects of Karakhanid, Khwarezm and Kipchak Turkish. The word continues to be used today with some phonetic variants in Turkey Turkish dialects and contemporary Turkish dialects and means "seizure;" order; It is used with meanings such as "epidemic disease, death". This article will focus on the socio-cultural importance of the word in today's social life, its usage in historical and contemporary Turkish dialects, its evaluations in etymological studies and its origin in the light of the information obtained from the literature review.

One of the first innovative inventions discovered by human beings is frit, which has been an important intermediate product and strategic link of the ceramics industry from past to present. Frit, which is essentially a glass that dates to ancient times, has become an important product of controlled chemistry as it is used in ceramic bodies and glazes and can be produced with the desired and sought-after properties. The contributions of frit to ceramic bodies and glazes are very important in historical and unique ceramic works resulting from the combination of glass and ceramics. Frit, which is an important strategic product of ceramic-glass combination, has a wide usage potential in different areas. The aim of the study is to investigate the invention of frit, when it was first used, its use and importance in non-ceramic areas, with the innovation it brought to ceramic production and its contributions. In order to understand the stages and methods in the frit making process, frit was made with a mixture prepared from various ceramic raw materials. In the frit making experiment, while the fluidity, viscosity and transparency of the glass structure formed by melting powdered ceramic raw materials at high temperatures were monitored, information about the frit in granule form consisting of thin rovings and small glass pieces after cooling was shared in the study.

As a result of the change in the balance of production and consumption with the industrial revolution, consumption began to be seen as an indicator of identity and status and a source of happiness rather than meeting basic needs. However, at this point, despite having many things, people feel unhappiness and dissatisfaction, which has led to a search for alternatives. Minimalism, which emerged as a result of these searches and whose popularity increases day by day, has begun to take its place in people's lives as an anti-overconsumption lifestyle. Minimalism not only determines people's attitude towards objects, but also includes a series of practices for a more livable world. In this respect, the effect of minimalism, which is presented as a solution to the search for happiness, on the values of society is one of the issues that need to be investigated. The main problem of this study is what kind of relationship there is between minimalism and the values stated by the Ministry of National Education and called root values. The sub-problems of the study are related to whether root values are included in minimalism and, if so, whether there is harmony, conflict, or interaction between the two concepts. Additionally, whether minimalism is a lifestyle that accepts or rejects root values was seen as another sub-problem of the research. In this study, which was created by literature review method, it was tried to reach the sources related to the subject. When the studies in the literature were examined, it was seen that root values were discussed on the axis of education and training and that they focused on the fact that they should be taught as an outcome. In this context, the fact that the research deals with a lifestyle in the context of root values shows its originality and suggests that it can contribute to studies on this subject. As a result of the research, it was seen that minimalism is directly related to the root values of justice, self-control, patience, love, respect, honesty, responsibility, and helpfulness. It has been determined that the value of friendship is shaped according to mutual relations, and the values of love, respect and honesty are important concepts both in human relations and in the protection of the natural environment and living things. It has been concluded that minimalism is a more comprehensive and higher way of life that includes patriotism, which is among the ten root values.

The main source of all plans and actions of business is people. In today’s world of consumption, where the importance of digitalism and innovation is increasing day by day, consumers have become the center of all activities of businesses. Since marketing is a branch of science where mutual communication with people is intense, it is necessary for marketers to analyze the consumer profile of the market in which they operate in order to make a difference against their competitors in the sector and the maintain their existence in the long run. The family that one is born into, the people who are taken as role models, the social environment, the position that the person has in society affect the purchasing decision process to a great extent (Durmaz & Oruç, 2011, 60). Consumer behavior is an important discipline that covers all stages of meeting the needs of individuals or groups. There are many factors that affect the purchasing behavior of consumers and motivate them to action. Social media phenomena, in other words, new opinion leaders emerge as important factors that shape today’s consumer behavior (Ülgen, 2020). The aim of this study is to reveal how opinion leaders, who exist both in social life and the digital environment, affect consumer purchasing behaviors in the context of a comprehensive literature review and similar studies.

Folklore, with its explicit and implicit functions, has been a part of the life of human beings since their existence. The products consisting of physiological and psychological elements such as action, art, profession, etc. that human beings perform in order to sustain their lives are the elements of folklore. Folklore has always maintained its feature of being a part of life with the explicit and implicit functions it contains. The knife, which appeared as a tool that facilitated life in the early periods of humanity, has undergone changes with the developing and changing world conditions over time. With mass production, there has been a disconnect in the transfer of the traditional method of knife types that have become uniform. In addition to this, there has been a decrease in the production of traditional knives due to reasons such as the production of industry-centered production more economically and in a shorter time. The knife, which takes its origins from iron, one of the important metals in Turks, is performed with various techniques and methods. The knife, which has developed in parallel with the iron mine, which has an ancient value in Turkish culture, has been an element of folklore that includes various practices and rituals that the society has put forward in the face of the events it has experienced, especially hunting and meeting the need for food.

With the influence of increasing industrialization in Turkey after the 1950s, migration from villages to cities began and the density of people in cities increased significantly. This increase has brought about the need for housing in cities. Shanty houses were built in a short time, at low cost and without planning permission. These emerging slums have led to the deterioration of the urban fabric (historical, natural, cultural) and urban identity. The loss of cities' identities caused economic, social and psychological problems, and this situation revealed the concept of urban transformation in Turkey. Following the industrial revolution that emerged in the 19th century, the housing need in cities, which increased secondarily in the 1980s and continues until today, was met by construction without planning permission. Since these unhealthy residential areas brought about unplanned urbanization, legal regulations were required and urban transformation became mandatory in order to reintegrate these areas into cities. In the city's recovery process, which was initiated with the concepts of urban transformation, urban renewal and urban recovery, it is aimed to restructure the cities, establish public living spaces and use the city in the most efficient way. Ecological and sustainability approaches, which are among the most important issues that should be included in the urbanization process, can be used to solve many problems that arise in cities, such as traffic, infrastructure and urban green areas. This study is a study that examines the urban transformation activities of the Fikirtepe region, which continues to experience the mentioned problems after urban transformation, in line with ecological and sustainability principles. Within the scope of the study, examples of urban transformation were examined and ecological approach principles were determined. The compliance of Fikirtepe region with ecological and sustainability concepts was evaluated in line with the determined principles and discussed in the table.

Poetry is the most disputed genre in terms of its definition and scope among text types. Poetry; they have been subject to various classifications according to their form and content characteristics. One of these classifications is the classification made under the title of “poetry genres”. Types of poetry; It is studied in titles such as lyric poetry, epic poetry, didactic poetry, dramatic poetry, satirical poetry, pastoral poetry. Some opinions are that a classification cannot be made with sharp lines in this way. Especially dramatic poetry; It has been used intertwined with many terms such as verse theater, narrative poetry, verse story. In this study, the term “dramatic poetry” will be emphasized and the process of the emergence of this term, some reflections in world literature and some examples from the literary periods starting from the pre-Islamic period in our literature will be tried to clarify the framework of the concept of “dramatic poetry”. It is also presented with examples in this study that poetry, defined as dramatic poetry, can find a place in every period of Turkish literature and that all poems are actually based on a narrative basis. In literary history studies that have come to this day, it has been determined that the process of poetry's inclusion in our literature according to genres has not been covered sufficiently. This study will also serve as a source for other poetry genre studies to be conducted after it. During the research process of the study, poems in the sources in the oral period, quatrains related to the subject in Divan-ı Lügati't Türk, the first dictionary of the Turkish language, dramatic poetry units in folk tales and divan poetry, Servetus from Tanzimat poetry, the first period of the Turkish literature under Western influence, were examined. The study was concluded by scanning the sources for some dramatic poetry examples in the Servet-i Fünun magazine and dramatic examples in Turkish poetry of the Republican Period.
