In order to use a language effectively and establish accurate and efficient communication through it, in addition to having the mastery of its grammar rules and lexicon, it is also necessary to be able to produce its sounds accurately. Pronunciation problems that are observed in the learning of almost all foreign languages are also experienced in teaching Turkish as a foreign language. Due to those problems, in this study, firstly the plethora of the terms that are used to refer to those phenomena that lead to confusion were discussed and a proposal for a common term was attempted. Based on the review of the literature, it was concluded that terms phone and phoneme were used to refer to sound and phoneme and that the terms articulation, pronunciation and spelling were used to refer to articulation. Secondly, three different approaches which are considered basic in pronunciation instruction were examined. Finally, 20 functional and useful instructional activities that teachers may use in their lessons at the beginner and intermediate levels in teaching Turkish as a foreign language were introduced.

The Old Turkish consists of those three periods: Orhun Turkish, Uigur Turkish and Karahanlı Turkish. Uigur Turkish is the second period of the Old Turkish. There are many studies from Uigur Turkish to now. One of them is “İyi-Kötü Prens Öyküsü” translated to Turkish language from Chinese in the 10th century. According to the story, the kindhearted prince who intended going to remote, dangerous places and bringing the precious jewel to benefit the people can not go on this travel because of his father did not allow. The prince who went on hunger strike as his insistence did not resulted gives an end to the strike after six days as his father king allowed him and begins the travel. According to the sources, the first hunger strike was held in Russia between the years 1881-1894. But, explaining a hunger strike in this story which was translated to Chinese from Turkish language in the 10th century shows that this action was known among the people and the nations since that time. When we compare that time with today it is seen that people can make their voices heard more today.

It is known that individuals are exposed to inadequate joint, muscle and bone density in elderly people as a result of restless life. In this study, the effect of the practice of prayer in the hip and knee joint openings without any disruption in the belief of Islamic religion was aimed at the effect of hip and knee joint range of motion (EHA) encountered in later ages.
Randomly selected individuals were included in the study. Patients with any orthopedic, neurological and vascular disease, and those with a history of previous surgery on the lower extremity were excluded. 70 volunteer male subjects aged 50-70 were included in the study. A total of 70 persons were included in the study group, 35 of whom made prayers from time of adolescence and 35 of them who did not render them as control groups. In the supine position, groups were measured passively using flexion (EHA) values of both hip and knee joints on both sides. As a reference to the EHA, the World Health Organization (WHO) values for the Body Mass Index (BMI) of the American Orthopedic Society (AAOS) were taken into account. Hip and knee ROM values were statistically significant between the two groups (p <0.01). It is thought that light exercise without daily disruptions and daily prayer movements may be a guide for the elimination of movement losses.

Classical Turkish literature, especially after the XVI. century, it was established a literary tradition in which meaning and aesthetics were important and even the meaning of speech was prevented. Bâkî, who is one of the most important poets of XVI. century classical Turkish literature, is a poet who has paid great attention to voice, utterance and style in his poems. Bâkî's style of poetry is mostly ornamented and has an aesthetic structure. His poems, in which the use of rhythm and harmony were very successful, reveal that Bâkî was a voice and utterance poet. One of the characteristics that Bâkî’s poems frequently refers to in his poems is the technique of starting with a striking style and remarkable expression to the poem known as ”berâat-i istihlâl.

It can be suggested that Turkish language is being taught as a foreign language for a long period of time, and that activities aiming towards teaching Turkish to foreign people have multiplied in number during the course of history, in a manner parallel with the political sovereignty established by the Turks. Extant bilingual dictionaries and grammar books are of a nature to support this statement. In this study, we strive to introduce, and assess through examination in terms of methods and principles of foreign language teaching two lithographed works, which are thought to be printed in Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan, approximately a hundred years ago, and written for teaching Turkish as a foreign language in schools. The understanding of teaching Turkish of aforementioned works are tried to be unraveled in the study prepared by document review method, which is one of qualitative research methods. These two works, which are reckoned to contribute to the historical development process of teaching Turkish abroad as a foreign language, are of great significance for contemplating on how Turkish has been taught outside Turkey at the beginning of the twentieth century.
