Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine the knowledge level of the students of vocational high schools in Konya Selçuk University Campus, namely Vocational High School of Social Sciences, Vocational High School of Health Sciences and Vocational High School of Technical Sciences about consumer rights and responsibilities, consumer behaviours, and consumer training. The study also examined possible differences between male and female students on that subject. Participants of this study were 100 students of Social Sciences, 100 students of Health Sciences and 100 students of Technical Sciences Vocational High School, totally 304 students. In this study, consumer consciousness point of every students and average level of them (%57) have been calculated as to 10 questions of the survey. Although consumer consciousness difference between male and female consumers was calculated as %3, it is not meaningful as to ki square test. On the other hand, as to the faculties of the vocational school, it was found that there is a meaningful difference between student’s consumer consciousness. By analysing consumer behaviours of the students, it is revealed that only 35% of the consumers make market investigation before buying and those who don’t make market investigation don’t have habits to make plan before buying. In addition to this results, buying factor models for male and female students have been set by analysing related items of the survey.
