Abstract
Ziya Osman Saba’nın Geçen Zaman-Nefes Almak kitabında toplanan şiirlerinin laytmotifi ölüm ve çocukluktur. Şairin çocukluğundan itibaren yaşadığı zor hayat, şiirlerinin içeriğini belirlemiştir. Annesinin genç yaşta ölmüş olması ve babasının ikinci evliliğini yaparak Ziya Osman Saba’dan ayrılması tüm hayatına tesir etmiştir. İlk evliliğinde bulamadığı mutluluğu kısa süreliğine de olsa ikinci evliliğinde yaşamıştır. İkinci evliliğini yapmadan önce yazdığı şiirlerinin toplandığı Geçen Zaman’da hayatının bu döneminde yaşadığı tüm sıkıntı, keder ve acılar çok belirgindir. Kendi yaşadıklarını, çektiği acıları ve her şeye rağmen tamamen kopmadığı ümitlerini şiirine taşımış olması Saba’nın bireyci bir şair olduğu düşüncesini doğurmuştur. Fakat kendisinin bir insan olarak “sosyal endişe” konusu olabileceğini dile getiren Saba’nın kişisel tarihi ve yaşadığı sıkıntıları, kederleri ait olduğu toplumun insanlarının acı ve kederlerinden uzak değildir.

Abstract
The leitmotif of Ziya Osman Saba's poems collected in the book Geçen Zaman-Nefes Almak is death and childhood. The difficult life of the poet since his childhood determined the content of his poems. His mother's death at a young age and his father's separation from Ziya Osman Saba by marrying for the second time affected his whole life. He experienced the happiness that he could not find in his first marriage, even if it was for a short time, in his second marriage. All the troubles, sorrows and pains he experienced in this period of his life are very evident in Geçen Zaman, where her poems that he wrote before his second marriage are collected. The fact that he conveyed his experiences, sufferings and hopes to his poetry gave rise to the idea that Saba was an individualist poet. However, Saba's personal history, troubles and sorrows are not far from the pain and sorrow of the people of the society to which he belongs, expressing that he can be a subject of "social anxiety" as a human being.
