Abstract
Sunulan makalede, klarnetin dünya müzik kültürü içerisindeki tarihsel gelişimi incelenmekte ve enstrümanın farklı sanatsal ile icracı pratiklerdeki konumu değerlendirilmektedir. Çalışmanın temel amacı, klarnetin icra ve besteleme tekniklerindeki evrimi, timbral renklerin zenginleşmesi ve teknik imkânlarının genişlemesi üzerinden onun akademik müzik sanatındaki yerini ve önemini ortaya koymaktır. Bu çerçevede klarnetin, yalnızca orkestral bir işlev aracı değil, aynı zamanda bağımsız bir ifade aracı olarak sanat tarihine kazandırdığı katkılar ortaya konulmaktadır. Araştırmanın kurgusu, enstrümanın oluşum ve gelişim sürecinin aşamalar halinde incelenmesine dayanmaktadır. Giriş bölümünde, klarnetin tarihsel evrimi içerisinde öne çıkan performans özellikleri ve yapısal gelişim basamakları ele alınmaktadır. Birinci bölümde, klasik dönemde klarnetin yaygınlaşması ve hem orkestra hem de oda müziğinde güçlü bir konum edinmesi süreci, dönemin bestecilerinin eserleri bağlamında analiz edilmektedir. Ayrıca, romantik ve post-romantik dönemlerde enstrümanın işlevsel ve estetik rolü incelenmektedir. Bu dönemde bireysel intonasyon anlayışının çeşitlenmesi ve tını paletinin derinleşmesi sonucunda klarnetin yeni ifade olanakları belirginleşmiştir. Sonuç bölümünde, elde edilen bulgular ışığında klarnetin tarihsel gelişim sürecinin, onun günümüz müzik pratiğindeki güncelliğini ve işlevselliğini nasıl belirlediği özetlenmektedir. Ayrıca, enstrümanın hem orkestral hem de solo bağlamlarda süreklilik arz eden önemi vurgulanmakta, profesyonel müzik pratiği ve müzik eğitimi sistemi içerisindeki özel konumu literatüre katkı sağlayacak şekilde ortaya konulmaktadır.

Abstract
In this article, the historical development of the clarinet within world music culture is examined, and the instrument's position in different artistic and performance practices is evaluated. The main objective of this study is to reveal the place and importance of the clarinet in academic music art through its evolution in performance and composition techniques, the enrichment of timbral colours, and the expansion of its technical possibilities. In this context, the contributions of the clarinet to art history are presented, highlighting its role not only as an orchestral instrument but also as an independent means of expression. The research design is based on examining the instrument's formation and development process in stages. In the introduction, prominent performance characteristics and structural development stages of the clarinet within its historical evolution are discussed. In the first chapter, the process of the clarinet's spread during the classical period and its establishment as a strong position in both orchestral and chamber music is analysed within the context of the works of the composers of that era. Additionally, the functional and aesthetic role of the instrument during the Romantic and Post-Romantic periods is examined. During this period, the clarinet's new expressive possibilities became apparent as a result of the diversification of individual intonation understanding and the deepening of the timbre palette. In the conclusion section, the historical development process of the clarinet is summarised in light of the findings, and how this determines its relevance and functionality in contemporary musical practice. Additionally, the instrument's enduring significance in both orchestral and solo contexts is emphasised, and its unique position within professional music practice and the music education system is presented in a way that will contribute to the literature.
