Crisis, as a reflection of social and ecological reality in art, holds a significant place in 21st-century contemporary art. This concept has been the subject of numerous works in art, philosophy, literature, and cinema. In 21st-century contemporary art, the concept of "crisis" has been expressed with new and different ideas. Every society and culture reflects the moments of crisis it experiences or constructs in its art in a unique way. Crises experienced are addressed with the aim of raising awareness, while the constructed scenarios are addressed with the aim of attracting attention or taking precautions. This study examines how post-colonial, mechanical, and ecological crises are represented in the works of different cultures and their contemporary artists. Under the headings of postcolonial crisis, mechanical crisis, and ecological crisis, the connection between the works produced by artists and the culture in which they live is discussed. The study emphasizes the importance of examining the orientation of the culture and social structure in which the artists live, the extent to which this influences their works, and the specific themes under which the artists explore their portrayals of a society with negative conditions. The artists examined in this study, unlike those who choose their subject matter as a theme, produce works because they have chosen existential problems related to the society and culture in which they live. In this context, the study examines the works of 9 artists Mariko Mori, Yanobe Kenji, Hiroki Tskuda, Kara Walker, Kader Attia, Yhonnie Scarce, Latai Taumoepeau, Maureen Gruben, and Robert Kautuk and aims to discuss how a contemporary aesthetic of crisis is constructed and the relationship between these crisis representations and the artists' cultural contexts.
