1926 yılında düzenlenen Bakü Türkoloji Kurultayı, Sovyet coğrafyasındaki Türk bilim adamlarını, Türkiye’den gelen delegeleri ve Batılı Türkologları aynı bilimsel platformda buluşturarak Türkoloji alanında uluslararası iş birliği ortamı oluşturan önemli bir kültürel etkinlik olmuştur. Azerbaycan’da millî uyanış süreciyle birlikte eğitim-öğretimin yaygınlaşması, Latin alfabesinin kullanılmaya başlanması ve buna bağlı bilimsel-pedagojik meselelerin ortaya çıkması, bu konuların sistemli biçimde ele alınmasını gerekli kılmış; bu doğrultuda kurultayın Bakü’de toplanmasına karar verilmiştir.Toplam 131 delege ve yaklaşık 200 misafirin katıldığı kurultayda 17 oturum gerçekleştirilmiş, sunulan 38 bildiri ve gerçekleşen tartışmalarla Türkoloji alanındaki temel sorunlara çözüm aranmıştır. Şubat 1926’da başlayıp 6 Mart’a kadar devam eden bu toplantı, Türkoloji tarihi açısından özel bir öneme sahiptir. Türkiye’den davet edilen Mehmed Fuat Köprülü’nün sunduğu bildiriler büyük yankı uyandırmış ve delegeler üzerinde önemli bir etki bırakmıştır. Türkiye’yi temsil eden bir diğer önemli isim olan Ali Bey Hüseyinzade ise “Batı’nın İki Destanında Türk” başlıklı tebliğiyle dikkat çekmiştir. Ayrıca Paul Wittek, Julius Mészáros ve Theodor Menzel gibi Türkiye ile bağlantılı yabancı bilim insanlarının da kurultayı izleyerek çeşitli raporlar hazırladıkları bilinmektedir. Kurultay’da ele alınan konular arasında Arap alfabesinden Latin alfabesine geçiş konusu, ortak dil ve kültür meseleleri, Türk halklarının tarihi ve Edebiyatı, ortak bilimsel çalışmaların geliştirilmesi gibi birçok önemli konular detaylı tartışılmış, çözüm yolları aranmıştır.
The 1926 Baku Turkology Congress was an important cultural event that brought together Turkic scholars from the Soviet territories, delegates from Turkey, and Western Turkologists on a single academic platform, thereby creating an international environment of cooperation in the field of Turkology. With the rise of the national awakening process in Azerbaijan, the expansion of education, the adoption of the Latin alphabet, and the emergence of related scientific and pedagogical issues, it became necessary to address these matters in a systematic way; accordingly, the decision was made to hold the congress in Baku.A total of 131 delegates and approximately 200 guests participated in the congress. Seventeen sessions were held, during which 38 papers were presented, and extensive discussions took place to address the fundamental problems of Turkology. This meeting, which began in February 1926 and continued until 6 March, holds a special place in the history of Turkology.The presentations delivered by Mehmed Fuat Köprülü from Turkey received wide attention and had a significant impact on the delegates. Another important figure representing Turkiye, Ali Bey Hüseyinzade, attracted attention with his paper titled “The Turk in the Two Epics of the West.” In addition, foreign scholars such as Paul Wittek, Julius Mészáros, and Theodor Menzel, who had academic ties with Turkey, attended the congress and prepared various reports. Among the topics discussed at the congress were the transition from the Arabic script to the Latin alphabet, issues of common language and culture, the history and literature of Turkic peoples, and the development of joint scientific studies. These issues were discussed in detail, and possible solutions were sought.
