Bütüncül tasarım olarak isimlendirilen ve mimarın binadan eşyaya her şeyi tasarlaması gerektiği anlayışının tüm dünyayı etkilediği dönemde Türkiye’de Eldem tasarımları Cumhuriyet Dönemi mimarlık tarihine adını yazdırmaya başlamıştır. Cumhuriyet dönemi Türkiye’sinin önemli mimarlarından biri olan Eldem, modern mimari ve İkinci Ulusal Mimarlık kapsamında eserler vermiştir. Bu çalışmada, Budapeşte Fuarı Türk Pavyonu, Yalova Termal Oteli, Taşlık ve Çamlıca Kahveleri, İstanbul Hilton Oteli ve Türk Lokantası, Pakistan ve Hindistan Büyükelçilik binaları ve konutları, Hollanda Büyükelçilik konutu gibi çok sayıda önemli eserler veren Eldem’in eserlerinden seçilen örneklerin dönemin bütüncül tasarım anlayışı kapsamında değerlendirilmeleri yapılarak, yapılan analiz sonucunda çağın dünya mimarisine etkide bulunan bütüncül tasarım anlayışının Eldem’in eserlerindeki etkisinin Türk mimarisine etkileri ve özellikle iç mimariye katkıları ile bağdaştırılarak ortaya konulması amaçlanmıştır.
