“Coğrafyadan Kültüre Bağ'' İsimli Belgeselin Sosyal Bilgiler Dersi Öğretim Programı Açısından İncelenmesi

Abstract
Belgesellerin eğitsel amaçlarla kullanımı, öğrencilere etkili, kalıcı ve derinlemesine öğrenme deneyimleri sunmaktadır. Eğitim sürecinde kullanılan belgeseller, iletişimin görsel ve duygusal gücünden yararlanarak öğrencilerin hem bilişsel hem de duyuşsal gelişimlerine katkı sunmakta, öğrenme sürecini daha anlamlı ve kalıcı hâle getirmektedir. Bu bağlamda sosyal bilgiler dersinde belgesellerin kullanımı, öğrencilerin toplumsal, kültürel ve coğrafi konuları daha kapsamlı bir bakış açısıyla değerlendirmelerine olanak sağlamaktadır. Bu araştırmada, TRT Belgesel kanalında yayınlanan “Coğrafyadan Kültüre Bağ” adlı belgeselin sosyal bilgiler dersi kapsamında kullanılabilirliğinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda belgeselin bölümleri, Sosyal Bilgiler Dersi Öğretim Programı’nda yer alan öğrenme alanları, kazanımlar, beceriler ve değerler açısından incelenmiştir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi benimsenmiş olup veri toplama tekniği olarak doküman incelemesi kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler betimsel analiz yöntemiyle çözümlenerek sistematik bir biçimde özetlenmiş ve yorumlanmıştır. Araştırma bulgularına göre belgeselin en fazla ilişkilendirildiği öğrenme alanlarının İnsanlar, Yerler ve Çevreler; Kültür ve Miras; Üretim, Dağıtım ve Tüketim ile Küresel Bağlantılar olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca belgeselde Sosyal Bilgiler Dersi Öğretim Programı’nda yer alan 27 beceriden 14’üne ve 18 değerden 12’sine yer verildiği tespit edilmiştir. Bu sonuçlar, belgeselin sosyal bilgiler öğretiminde programla uyumlu ve işlevsel bir materyal olarak kullanılabileceğini göstermektedir. Elde edilen bulgular doğrultusunda, “Coğrafyadan Kültüre Bağ” belgeselinin öğrenme alanları, kazanımlar, değerler ve becerilerle ilişkilendirilerek derslerde kullanılabilmesine; bu belgesele dayalı öğretim etkinliklerinin geliştirilmesine ve eğitimde belgesel kullanımına yönelik akademik çalışmaların artırılmasına yönelik öneriler sunulmuştur.

Abstract
The use of documentaries for educational purposes provides students with effective, lasting, and in-depth learning experiences. Documentaries used in the educational process contribute to students’ cognitive and affective development by leveraging the visual and emotional power of communication, making the learning process more meaningful and lasting. In this context, the use of documentaries in social studies classes enables students to evaluate social, cultural, and geographical topics from a more comprehensive perspective. This study aims to determine the suitability of the documentary titled “From Geography to Culture,” broadcast on the TRT Documentary channel, for use within the scope of the social studies curriculum. In line with this objective, the documentary’s episodes were analyzed in terms of the learning domains, learning outcomes, skills, and values outlined in the Social Studies Curriculum. A qualitative research method was adopted in the study, and document analysis was used as the data collection technique. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive analysis methods, systematically summarized, and interpreted. According to the research findings, the learning areas most closely associated with the documentary were identified as People, Places, and Environments; Culture and Heritage; Production, Distribution, and Consumption; and Global Connections. Additionally, it was found that the documentary addresses 14 out of the 27 skills and 12 out of the 18 values included in the Social Studies Curriculum. These results indicate that the documentary can be used as a curriculum-aligned and functional material in social studies instruction. Based on the findings, recommendations were made regarding the use of the “From Geography to Culture” documentary in lessons by linking it to learning areas, learning outcomes, values, and skills; the development of teaching activities based on this documentary; and the increase in academic studies on the use of documentaries in education.
