Abstract

Depending on the economic developments in the world, the difficulties that start in living conditions make it obligatory for women to participate in the labor force. It can be seen that young girls who participate in working life in order to contribute to their families or married women who participate in working life in order to increase the level of welfare with their spouse, as well as women who lost their spouses or live separately, are included in working life to provide a living. From this point of view, it can be said that many women are involved in the business life in order to get more from social life and gain a certain income, as well as getting rid of the uniformity of home life. On the other hand, it is a fact that women face some obstacles and problems in their working life. However, it is observed that, depending on the discriminatory approach that focuses on the gender of the societies, important duties are not given to women at the management levels. It is possible to say that women are often employed in jobs that are not related to their management positions. It is seen that societies generally encourage gender-centered discrimination throughout the historical process. Although the level of this discrimination is different in societies, it is seen that this level difference is closely related with the religious, historical and cultural values of the society. There are social duties in which societies are separated from men and women. These tasks generally affect people's behavior directly and force them to behave in certain directions. These duties and social value patterns impose how men and women have to act and what tasks they have to take on. Within the scope of this study, the understanding of the career barriers that come to the women who work in the jobs where men work more intensely, and the effects of glass ceiling syndrome, which is a concept whose effects can be seen despite being known as an abstract concept, will be evaluated.
